I don't make music as much as music makes me...

Biography

Music is my bliss.. next to chocolate (",)

And though I've never taken a guitar lesson or a voice lesson or a songwriting lesson for that matter all I knew is that I wanted to contribute to "2010 Peace Song" which is why I've made these songs up in the first place...

To me it's less about the competition and more about what I think 'Peace Song' stands for, a search for unity, awareness of humanity, invoking in each of us a lil more of an effort to understand and lift eachother no matter our walks of life. If we can't embrace eachother in "person" maybe we can through music.. think, live, love and then some.. hope you enjoy these, my first recordings ever!! Soooo nervous!!

Come Knockin'

Written By: Frances Osborne-Tau

Come Knockin’

1st Verse
I know, I know, I know, you don’t feel like talking right now
I see, I see, I see, that it’s hurtin’ you and your head is down
I can’t, I can’t, I can’t, help but imagine that we’re friends
And this is what I’d say, if I knew your name

Chorus
Looks like things are hard now babe but, it’ll be alright
I’m just a girl at the bus stop so I guess, well who am I
Made my mistakes but I didn’t give up on me, don’t give up on you
A brighter day, is gonna come a knockin’

2nd Verse
You look, you look, you look up suddenly, neither of us says a word
I’m feelin kinda shy I didn’t mean to stare but in a
Funny way its like you might’ve heard me
I’ve got to catch my bus now, as I rise to walk away
I smile at you, You give me little wave
I woulda liked to get to know ya but perhaps another day

Chorus
Looks like things are hard now babe but, it’ll be alright
I’m just a girl at the bus stop oh I guess, so who am I
Made my mistakes but I didn’t give up on me, don’t give up on you
A brighter day, is gonna come a knockin’ oh

Bridge
There’s one other thing you may need to know
You ain’t gonna like it but it’s how the story goes

And that is, the rain has gotta fall, sometimes
In fact it’s gonna pour, down on ya honey
Believe me when I say
That without the storms, oh you can never know
A brighter day

Chorus
Looks like things are hard now babe but, it’ll be alright
I’m just a girl at the bus stop so I guess, well who am I
Made my mistakes but I didn’t give up on me, don’t give up on you
A brighter day, is gonna come a knockin’ yeah

Best believe it, your brighter day
Is gonna come a knockin’

Reason For Living

Written By: Frances Osborne-Tau

Reason For Living

1st Verse
Though I never told a soul
I got dreams that no-one knows
Isn’t there a possibility that I could be free?
Show the world what I can do
Would I be singing out of tune
If I built a chance from all the pieces of the puzzle?
I look above me, I see blue sky
Is it for me? Is it for me?

Chorus
I can feel it, getting closer
I can breathe it in
I can taste it on my lips
And it’s called hope
It’s called a reason for living
It’s called hope and my reason for, livin’

2nd Verse
Are you aching deep inside
Did someone tell you to hide
Isn’t there a possibility that you could be free?
Show this world what you can do
Would you be singing out of tune
If you built a chance from all the pieces of the puzzle?
You look above you and see blue sky
Is it for you?

Chorus
Well I can feel it, and its getting closer
I can breathe it in
I can taste it on my lips
And it’s called hope
And it’s called a reason for living
It’s called hope and my reason for, livin’

Bridge
Well I suppose there’s a chance that I could be wrong
I’m not the first to want to sing my own song
But when I’m filled with doubt
I get up on my knees and shout

Chorus
That I can feel it, oh its getting stronger
I can breathe it in
And I can taste it on my lips
And it’s called hope
It’s called a reason for livin’
It’s called hope and you know it’s a reason

Wo wo wo wo wo
it’s called hope

Cos we all need
Said we all need
A reason for, livin’.

One Heart at a Time

Written By: Frances Osborne-Tau

One Heart at A Time

1st Verse
Wo hey yeah yeah
Have you ever wondered why we have ears to hear but
We ain’t listening?
Have you ever wondered why we have eyes to watch but
We ain’t seeing?
Lips to speak but when will we start, when will we start talkin’?
Hands can touch but when will we start, when will we start feeling?

Chorus
I have to say
I’m rather disappointed in the way we
Mis-communicate
Don’t wait, collaborate, let’s turn this thing around
One heart at a time

2st Verse
See the children as they play, they laugh they smile oh
It’s so easy
See the brand new baby sleep, her eyes are closed yet
She’s still gleaming
What did they know before we showed them anger and
Frustration
We gotta take a leaf from their example of
Jubilation

Chorus
I have to say
I’m rather disappointed in the way we
Miscommunicate
Don’t wait, collaborate, let’s turn this thing around
One heart at a time, mhmm, one heart at a time

Bridge
Well, some days it looks so bleak I hang my head in shame
Then I recall, a flood, a flood begins with just one little drop of rain
Realise, the unity, the unity of every you and me aha
Could flood this whole earth times over with
Love enough to save our human family

So I have to say
Don’t wait, collaborate, let’s change it up now

Reach out, with words tender, to one-another
Nourish, nourish and protect each-other
Would it really very harm us to try?
Would it really very harm us to try?
One heart at a time
And today, I’m gonna start with mine.

Whisper

Written By: Frances Osborne-Tau

Whisper

Whisper
Something good
I don’t like these dreams
Called reality
Why are they
Mine?

Tell me I’ll wake up soon and there I’ll be
Sitting up on the moon, happy and free
As birds that fly through a rainbow
As newborn dew at dawn
I could even be treated the same as other people
Tell me

Chorus
Was I, Born Free?
Born Free, Was I?

2nd Verse
Well I’ve heard of a privilege but I
don’t’ know just what that means
The opportunity missed me
I don’t really mind
I was just wondering
Why I feel something tuggin’ at my heels
Somethin’ just like chains
I look down but I don’t see them nowhere
Are they invisible?

Chorus
Was I, Born Free?
Born Free, Was I?

Bridge
Cos I’m told
Don’t say too much
Don’t look around
Thoughts to yourself
Keep your eyes on the ground
Don’t need to read oh
Don’t you dare write
Now I’m looking for the answers with all of my might

Was I, born Free, I don’t, I don’t really feel oh, free
Can somebody tell me, anybody
What it’s like to be
Born Free

Our Tomorrow

Written By: Frances Osborne-Tau

Our Tomorrow

Come with me
To a place where love resides
Come with me
Let me help to dry your eyes
Take my hand, don’t be scared, don’t be shy
I will be here, with you

Chorus
If we all said this to each other
Can you imagine our tomorrow?
Our tomorrow
Our tomorrow
Our tomorrow
Our tomorrow

Understanding would come
Caring would follow
There would be no more “stranger”
Now I know you as brother

Chorus
If we all said this to each other
Can you imagine our tomorrow?
Our tomorrow
Our tomorrow
Our tomorrow
Our tomorrow.

Be A Little Happy

Written By: Frances Osborne-Tau

Be A Little Happy

1st Verse
Let it go
Leave it be
Live in peace and harmony
Easier said than done
When are we gonna get it?
Prone to messin’ up
When are we gonna get it!

Chorus
We can be anything we wanna be
Be a little happy
We can be anything we wanna be
Be a little happy

2nd Verse
Let the air
That we breathe
Be simple and
Always free
The sun shines on us all
The rain falls on us all
The sun shines on us all
The rain falls on us all

Chorus
We can be anything we wanna be
Be a little happy
We can be anything we wanna be
Be a little happy

Bridge
If you wanna fight
Try with all your might
Get up outa there
There’s a better vibe to share

The shining of the star
We’ve been looking for
Navigate our way
To its distant shore

Chorus
We can be anything we wanna be
Be a little happy
We can be anything we wanna be
Be a little happy

My Aotearoa

Written By: Frances Osborne-Tau

My Aotearoa

Chorus
My Aotearoa, my people
In the land of the long white cloud
We stand together in a world
where others would split in the crowd
My Aotearoa, my people
From the land of the long white cloud
No matter where we be everyone can see
We got hearts that love out loud
Hearts that love out loud

1st Verse
Oh my people
Where we are from
The hearts are grand and the blood is strong
Oh my people
Came by waka in the seas
And by the kiss of the breeze

Led by the stars
Rolling with the thunder
Freedom in their veins
And is it any wonder
My other brothers came to her by ship or by plane
Once you’ve stepped on her soil a part of you will remain in

Chorus
My Aotearoa, my people
In the land of the long white cloud
We stand together in a world
where others would split in the crowd
My Aotearoa, my people
From the land of the long white cloud
No matter where we be everyone can see
We got hearts that love out loud
Hearts that love out loud
New Zealand proud
Kiwi proud
