Bio

Fran is a singer/songwriter and musician from Navan, Co. Meath, Ireland. She released 'Right Now', her debut album of original songs on February 24th, 2012. She has been working as a professional singer and musician for many years but has always wanted to write and record her own music. The turning point came when she returned to college to pursue post-graduate studies at the Irish World Academy of Music and Dance at the University of Limerick. Creating original music became a major new focus for Fran. She graduated in 2007 with an M.A. in Community Music, and feels that it changed her life, mainly because it altered her entire approach to writing and gave her the opportunity to get the best out of herself and others. Fran loves sharing her music with people and especially loves encouraging people to write their own music, sing and express themselves through music or any other creative medium.
Fran plays bass and acoustic guitar, and also dabbles in piano. She wrote and arranged all the songs on this new album and co-produced it with James Blennerhassett, a very well-known Irish musician and composer. James played all the bass tracks and Fran is delighted to have some of Ireland’s finest musicians featured on the album including Bill Shanley, Ewan Cowley, Dave Hingerty, Liam Bradley and her husband, Pat Marnane, on piano.
The album launch was a great success and Fran's music has been greeted with a very positive reaction on various radio stations in Ireland. The songs vary from folk to folk rock and are not influenced by any one particular style. Fran is a fan of Paul Brady, The Corrs, Abba, James Taylor, Bob Dylan, Mark Knopfler, Sarah McLachlan, Bonnie Raitt and Declan O'Rourke, so perhaps there's a little of all of those in there! Fran was recently awarded the Tipp FM Arts and Entertainment Award for June, 2012 for her 'Right Now' album.
Performing the songs from the album to a wider audience is her next dream, and also, adding a seventh marathon to the six she has run in aid of Crumlin Children's Hospital, Dublin.
Her motto is a line from the song called 'Face It' on the album:
'A chance to dream chase it'.
