Frankie & Annette

Annette studied musical theater in Southern California for years then she got married; Frankie was playing bass in rock and jazz clubs in San Francisco then he got married. After assuming responsible lives, they met at the University of the Pacific in Stockton, California, and became friends. After dinner with respective spouses one night, Annette pulled out a book of songs and, pointing to California Dreamin' by the Mamas and Papas asked "Can you play this and sing it?" Annette describes it like this: "I rarely sang harmony with anyone and as we limped through this song, every time we sang "California Dreamin' on such a winter's day" the harmony on that single line was startling and brilliant. The rest of the song was crap, so we just sang that line until everybody begged us to stop. Now people beg us not to stop. But we do more stuff now."

The website shows a song list of classic duets (the Everly Brothers, the Beatles) and workups of writers as diverse as Tom Jones and John Doe. Their own stuff they describe as "eclecto."
