Franklyn Schaefer -- contemporary country with that crossover pop appeal!

Biography

Dear friend,
I'm so excited to share about my debut CD. A very nice person, Jaclyn Eckert from B.F. Radio Promotions wrote this nice review about it: "Keep On Smiling" is a compilation of ten contemporary country songs that speak of important issues in Franklyn Schaefer's life and his religious beliefs, and portray them in such a beautiful way. Schaefer portrays similar lyrical issues as those of Alan Jackson but expresses them uniquely—both musically and vocally."

Lyrics

Thanks, But No Thanks

Written By: Frank Schaefer, 2006

Verse 1
I ran into my ex just a week after she left me,
She said: "Hey honey . . . are you alright?”
It took everything within me, just to keep myself together;
I said: “no, but I’ll be fine--you just wait!”

You’ll never know, the strength you can show,
Until you take a look deep inside.
You’ll have your day, and you will be O.K.
Don't let pity get in the way!

Refrain:
Thanks, but no thanks, that's O.K,
I don't need your pity!
Don't you think, even think, that I'm lost
Without you, baby.

And FYI, I will manage just fine.
I'm a "somebody" on my own.
So, thanks, but no thanks.
Thanks, but no thanks.

Verse 2:
I wish I could have gone to my recent school reunion,
With the story of my “wonderful life.”
As it happens, there’s not always a DreamWorks happy ending.
At times you simply try to survive.

Bridge:
Don’t let the voice of shame enter your mind;
You must move on and leave your troubles behind.

Tell Me Now

Written By: Frank Schaefer

If you’re gonna break my heart, baby, break it.
I’m man enough to take it somehow.
If you’re gonna have to leave, then leave me, baby.
All I’m asking you is: tell me now!
Tell me now!

She’s the ritzy-glitzy-type prom queen
from the “Chic-y-Mickey” High.
Wherever she walks, heads are turnin’
And I’m just a regular guy.
Hard to believe I even caught her attention
But now we’re an item, I can’t take the tension.

If you’re gonna break my heart, baby, break it.
I’m man enough to take it somehow.
If you’re gonna have to leave, then leave me, baby.
All I’m asking you is: tell me now!
Tell me now!

Nothing worse than loving that someone,
Who feels that loving you may be wrong.
It hurts to learn that you’re just the “right one”
Til’ someone better comes along.
Better an ending with heartache and pain,
Than a pain without end, let’s not pretend.

If you’re gonna break my heart, baby, break it.
I’m man enough to take it somehow.
If you’re gonna have to leave, then leave me, baby.
All I’m asking you is: tell me now!
Tell me now!
Please tell me now!
Come on, baby, tell me now!
Tell me now, tell me now!

Speak of Peace

Written By: Frank Schaefer

1.
I watch the world and want to cry.
It’s all gone wrong, someone tell me why.
Who said there’s glory found in war?
Who taught us brothers to ignore?

Bridge
My questions rise to the sky
The stars above can testify.
I sit for hours in the night
To look for answers that feel right.

Ref.
Speak of peace, speak of love,
Brother moon, from above!
Say a prayer, through the night
That our world will be alright.

2.
Can’t we join forces to create,
A world which leaves no room for hate?
Can’t there be faith without a creed?
And who said love cannot be free?

Bridge 2:
My questions rise to the sky
The stars above can testify
I watch for shooting stars and wait
To make a wish and change our fate!

Ref.
Speak of peace, speak of love,
Brother moon, from above!
Say a prayer, through the night
That our world will be alright.

Ref. b
I wish that good will right the wrong
I wish one day we’ll get along.
That our minds be opened wide
That love and kindness be our guide!

Keep On Smiling

Written By: Frank Schaefer

I wake up in the morning,
Things are heavy on my mind
And it isn’t last night’s pizza;
No, I’m upset with “humankind!”
So, I’m watching hours of Sponge Bob
‘cuz the news are too severe.
When suddenly it hits me,
What we need is all right here:

Ref:
Keep on smiling
Get on the lighter side
Keep on smiling
And hang on for the ride.
Keep on smiling
As you stumble through the maze
Keep on smiling
And just hope for better days
When the world’s gone mad, keep smiling!

A smile is like an echo,
It comes right back at you
Life gets a little better
With every cheerful thing we do.
People who return your smile
no longer act as foes.
The solution to most problems
Is right here under our nose.

Ref. 2
Keep on smiling
Get on the lighter side
Keep on smiling
And hang on for the ride.
Keep on smiling
As you stumble through the maze
Keep on smiling
And just hope for better days
Keep on smiling
and show your happy face
Keep on smiling
Make this world a better place.

Please Come Home

Written By: Frank Schaefer

Girl, just hear me out,
Please take my call.
I’ve been down a rocky road
Since you’ve been gone.
I’ve screamed and I’ve cried
I searched deep within my heart
I just can’t go on living
With you and me apart.

Please come home, girl
For you alone, girl
Make me feel like I belong.
I miss you so, girl,
And now I know, girl
I can’t live without you one more day.
I would trade my life
For the days of our first love
Just like then, girl,
We can fall in love again.

What can I do
to prove my love to you?
I’d climb the tallest mountain,
If you asked me to.
So, I’ll stay and keep waiting
And I pray to heav’n above.
Cause if we’re meant for each other,
We just can’t fall out of love.

Please come home, girl
For you alone, girl
Make me feel like I belong.
I miss you so, girl,
And now I know, girl
I can’t live without you one more day.
I would trade my life
For the days of our first love
Just like then, girl,
We can fall in love again.

Mistakes are human, forgiveness is divine.
I know my love’s now strong enough
To leave the past behind.

Please come home, girl
For you alone, girl
Make me feel like I belong.
I miss you so, girl,
And now I know, girl
I can’t live without you one more day.
I would trade my life
For the days of our first love
Just like then, girl,
We can fall in love again.

I Want to Thank You

I Want to Thank You
Words and Music by Frank Schaefer, 2007

Verse 1:
Let every creature great and small
Praise God, who gives life to all.
Take a moment on the way,
to count the blessings of each day.

Lord, please teach us how to live
to love, to care, and freely give.
And may our life always include
an attitude of gratitude.

Refrain: So, I want to thank you
Take time to thank you.
For every single day
Blessings on the way
Every breath I take
Thank you God for everything.

And I want to thank you
Take time to thank you.
For every single smile
that makes life worth the while.
For every clear blue sky,
Thank you God for everything

Verse 2: Lord, help us to be more like you,
Be patient in the tasks we do.
Accept the things we can’t control.
And trust when hardships take their toll.

Lord, help us to appreciate
that Life itself‘s a gift so great;
That those who learn to just say “thanks”
Will rise above their feeble strength.
