Bio

My first instrument was drums. When I was just 4 years old I used to pull out anything I could find from my mother's kitchen that had a percussive sound and build what was a make shift drum set. My parents recognized my interest in music and bought me my first real set when I was in first grade. Rhythm was in my genes. My biological father, whom I have never met, was the percussionist for Carlos Santana. Drums became an obsession to me and when I was in the 5th grade I started playing in bands and musicians who were much older than me.

Around that time, I discovered the guitar and fell in love with that instrument. My life would never be the same. From then on, I spent my time on the guitar. In middle school, I started a band that won the D.C. Metro Talents Battle of The Bands competition. We wrote and performed an original song called "Something Special" and won 1st place out of around two hundred plus bands that entered the competition!

I later went on to play in several music projects. One project called Allana, for which I produced and wrote for in the mid 90’s, received a development deal from the Warner Brothers Alliance label. We worked with the late Country music legend, Rockabilly Hall of Famer, Big Al Downing.

Bands however, are something I am not presently pursuing. It is a tough road for often little reward. I am a songwriter & guitarist by nature and that is where I am concentrating my efforts and talents these days. In 2004 I was one of the winners in the CMT songwriting contest and am pursuing writing opportunities this has given me.
