Bio

Fraser Gielen is an old soul, your favourite wool sweater, the best good-luck charm. Wise beyond his 17 years, this singer-songwriter creates profoundly deep folk songs that flow perfectly, each arrangement unique to both itself and his style. Having started his own band (channeling good garage punk of the 70's) at the age of 11, busking in the streets of Belleville at 14, selling numerous cd's and booking successful shows since, Fraser Gielen has the drive needed to sustain the music industry.
Being the youngest in a family that has a deep love and appreciation for music certainly fuels this drive. Fraser's two brothers, sister and parents have been known to break into sing-along songs around the piano after dinner, appear in his music videos, or on occasion appear as his backing band on stage.

Fraser Gielen's stage presence is admirable. Captivating his audience with his exuding warmth and gentle charm, his live shows consist of traditional acoustic guitar and harmonica playing weaved over powerfully transcendent lyrics. Without a lick of obvious nervousness, Fraser closes his eyes, digging deep into soulful-introspection, and leans his head back as if howling at the moon. When his shows commence, a notable audible buzz still remains in the audience long after his performance.

Within the last 6 months, Fraser has been invited to play many shows across Canada, toured to the maritimes with UK-based Tisso Lake, Erin Lang, and Toronto-based Brooke Manning, begun the recording of his new album with help of Thom Gill (Final Fantasy, T H O M A S), and captured the hearts of open-earred listeners everywhere, all while still attending high school.

Fraser is the kind of gifted writer, thinker, and multi-instrumentalist that remains unique; A young body with an old soul you can't help but believe in.
