Bio
We are an old-time string band. We play tunes and songs influenced by southern Appalachian old-time string band music from the 1920s and 1930s and earlier. Our tunes come from early 20th century musicians such as Charlie Poole, the Skillet Lickers and the Carter Family and from those who have more recently revived the style, including the New Lost City Ramblers, Fuzzy Mountain String Band, Mike Seeger, and Carolina Chocolate Drops, to name a few.
We all have a passion for music but old-time is our favorite. We love to share this piece of American heritage through songs and tunes. We play regularly around Salt Lake City, Utah, playing for contra dances, concerts, festivals, and in restaurants.
We are a 4-piece band including fiddle, banjo, guitar and bass. Gillian Tufts on fiddle and vocals, Dave Morrison on banjo and vocals, Tom Middlen on guitar and vocals and Ross Faison on Bass.
