BandRockBlues

Carrying on the great tradition set by bands such as The Faces and The Black Crowes, Frayed comibines hard rock, the blues, and folk music into something inimitably their own..."Mountain Rock"

Biography

Frayed is a band with its musical sensibilities equally rooted in the classic rock n' roll of the 1960s & 1970s and the best of modern rock. Combine the raw, high-energy stage performances characteristic of The Faces or The Rolling Stones in their heyday with extended instrumental soloing typical of The Grateful Dead. Now imagine the lyrical complexity of some of the 1970s' finest singer-songwriters and a splash of psychedelia thrown into the mix and you've got something unique in music today. Frayed manages to fuse these influences, while maintaining a truly original and contemporary sound.

Frayed is a group with impeccable musicianship, as evidenced through the imaginative interplay between the two vocalists/guitarists Dallas Lockrey and Jordan Faye against the soulful rhythm section of bassist Jeremy Cooper and drummer Andres Restrepo. The chemistry among these young musicians and their musical ingenuity is something few would dispute after witnessing the band's electrifying live act or after having heard Frayed's recordings from the Gas Station Studios, made over a three-day period with veteran musician and producer Dale Morningstar at the helm. The year 2005 proved to be extremely busy and fruitful for Frayed, where they found themselves playing a number of venues that included Ontario Place and Club 279 at the legendary Hard Rock Cafe. Thus far, 2006 has seen the lads perform at a number of high profile gigs including performances at the popular venue Healey's in Toronto, where Frayed won the Battle of the Bands competition, which brought them to the Molson Amphitheatre Tom Petty Show. Also played theMariposa Folk Festival in Orillia. A handful of upscale charity events are still on the horizon for the boys, as well as working in the studio.

Largely dissatisfied with the turn rock music is currently taking, the band is looking to resurrect the fundamentals that made the music so fresh and exciting in the 1960s & 70s - memorable songs, tight musicianship, and an exhilarating stage presence. Frayed is a revolutionary new force in rock n' roll.

Lyrics

Better Than Dyin'

Written By: Dallas Lockrey

You know I’ve had my share of sunny afternoons in bed when I could not, could not face the world
And I tally all the times I’ve sat at home at night
Left here thinkin’, thinkin’ about a girl

I wanna hear you say
There ain’t no easy way

Spent so damn much money tryin’ to keep my interest high when I could not, could not spare a dime
The battle scars of bein’ young have got such character
Can you listen, lord? Tell me do you have the time?

And if I try to run and hide, fall down and scrape my knees, will you see me down,
Take advantage of me how you please
The battle scars of bein’ young have got such character
But you know it ain't exactly how you see

I wanna hear you say
There ain’t no easy way

Everybody talkin’ bout livin’
Say it’s much better than dyin’
Everybody talkin’ bout livin’
Sayin’ it’s much better than dyin’
Won’t you hear me sing it
Right on, right on, glory hallelujah, it’s right on

Everybody talkin’ bout livin’
Sayin’ it’s much better than dyin’
Everybody talkin’ bout livin’
Well, you can sing it day and night
Make it you feel alright
Right on, right on, glory hallelujah, it’s right on

Blood Moon

Written By: Jordan Faye

There’s a blackness blotting out the sun
On a blood moon
With red haze eclipsing everyone
On a blood moon
And you know there’s nowhere you can run
On a blood moon
Such an eerie sight
When it turns the day to night
And rations off the light
You’re at the mercy of
The stars above

There’s no guarantee you’ll make it through
On a blood moon
With the darkness hanging over you
On a blood moon
And you know there’s nothing you can do
On a blood moon
You’ll just have to wait
Like a sitting duck, you’re bait
At the hands of fate
To hope the sky won’t fall
On one and all

The moon is bleeding

There’s no way of knowing what’s in store
On a blood moon
With these shadows cast upon your door
On a blood moon
And the tides all crash against the shore
On a blood moon
All hopes start to fade
Now the sky has been betrayed
But don’t be afraid
A ring of light still shines
For better times

Tennessee Whiskey Blues

Written By: Jordan Faye

Well, I'm a hard workin' man, lord
As hard as I can, lord
I work the nine-to-five
And I've paid all my dues
Got these holes in my shoes
Y'know I do all I can to survive
But when the workday is done
At the close of the night
One thing you'll surely find -
Tennessee Whiskey on my mind

Now, tequila and me
We're as close as can be
And you know that ain't nothin' to hide
And I smile to the sound
Of someone buying a round
Lord, it moves me deep down inside
But when you hear last call ringin' out in the night
One thing you'll surely find -
Tennessee Whiskey on my mind

Lord, the whiskey makes me feel so good
Lord, the whiskey makes me feel so fine
From dusk until dawn in the morning sunlight
Tennessee Whiskey on my mind

You can pour a little brandy
You can pour a little wine
But pour a little whiskey and you're bound to lose your mind
