Bio

Often described as “folk-punk”, the two-piece act Freddy Fudd Pucker is the volatile union of Freddy Fudd, product of New Zealand, and the small but great Whippy Dip, made in Austin, Texas.

Since finding each other in 2009, Freddy Fudd Pucker has toured ceaselessly across three continents, playing more than 150 shows throughout the USA, ten memorable shows in Europe last year, and a combined total of over 18 weeks touring in New Zealand. They also spent two summers in Australia practicing the art of street performance, along with playing regular residencies at their favorite Melbourne drinking establishment, The Old Bar.

With six instruments and two voices between them, the pair concocts an uncommon brew of ruckus and harmony fitted for traditional and non-traditional venues alike. This increasingly fun style of performing has earned Freddy the privilege of playing festivals in three countries, including Campus A Low Hum 2011 in New Zealand, Fest 10 in Gainesville, Florida, USA, Applecore Fest 2012 in Melbourne, Australia, and most recently, Borderline Fest 2012 in Auckland, New Zealand.

On the rare occasion that Freddy Fudd Pucker is not on the road, they focus on the writing and recording of at least one new album per year. In 2010 they released their first full length album, One for the Wonderwheel, followed by 2011’s grittier, darker The Priest, the Fly and the Flea, and earlier this year they released their newest recordings, a more experimental, five-track EP entitled Nowhere, recorded onto reel-to-reel tape in an independent studio in Australia. As a result of continual touring, their sound and songwriting style changes rapidly, and the impressive evolution is well documented by their past recordings. Their general preoccupations include the plague, natural disasters, insanity, dogs, touring, drinking, and the unholy circus of world politics.

The second half of 2012 promises to be as crazy as the past couple of years as Freddy Fudd Pucker plays around the southern United States and then prepares for an eight week tour of Europe beginning in July.

All of Freddy Fudd Pucker’s artistic endeavors, including tours and albums are entirely self-funded; they continue to be a genuine example of “do-it-yourself” musicianship -
they are an act not to be missed.
