Vocalist Deva Mahal and keys player Stephanie Brown create compositions with lyrics that combine imagery and narrative to deliver a startling blend of strength and intimacy. Moreover, their wide-ranging cultural heritage, with Deva Mahal, daughter of legendary blues musician Taj Mahal, drawing on her rich organic soul and blues roots; and Steph Brown, shimmering with sublime grooves from her native New Zealand result in energetic live shows, rich harmonies, and beautifully crafted songs.

Their influences range from Nina Simone and Sly and the Family Stone to more contemporary groove-based ensembles, yet with their own unique sound. Their newest release is an E.P. entitled Glass House Mountains and seeing and hearing them live it is clear you are in the presence of remarkable talent.
