Bio
Fred McKinney spent 34 years as a tool and diemaker, writing stories and novels in his spare time (largely unpublished) and playing guitar and singing as a hobby. During the summer of 2005 he started writing songs and has written over 50 to date. His influences range from Mark Knopfler to Emmy Lou Harris to Tom Russell to John Hiatt to Gillian Welch. He can write a song about his cat or a day at the beach or the closing of a steel mill, but he writes mostly about relationships, both good and bad, failed and successful. He sings of people he's known and people he'd like to know, with feeling and emotion.
