Fred Senecal

BandRockSinger/Songwriter

Biography

With his own special brand of “rootsy” originals, Fred Senecal treats his listeners to a guitar-full of tunes that range in variety from quietly introspective to “almost frantic” fun. Singer and songwriter from an early age, (he wore out his sister’s nylon string guitar), his vocal and acoustic style, and way with words, is unique and entertaining. Fred has been “on the road” locally in the Corvallis area for the past couple years, and recorded his own CD in 2005. He has lived in Corvallis since 1980.

Beth Orton

Written By: Fred Senecal

I'm saving myself for Beth Orton
Got to find a way to let her know
No more fooling, chasing, stressing or distorting
I'm fixing up my place for Beth O

Found every kind of girl that was wrong for me
Couldn't see the forest for the lack of trees
Screaming at the world standing on Bald Hill
If Sally don't love me then nobody will

So I'm saving myself for Beth Orton...

Tried to find a love that'd keep on peaking
I kept trying to fix it, it kept on leaking
Running down Bald Hill pulling out my hair
If Katie don't love me then I'm really nowhere

Now I'm saving myself for Beth Orton
I'm saving up myself for Beth O

Found every kind of love that was wrong for me
Tried to prop em up like a Christmas tree
Screaming at the world standing on Bald Hill
If Sally don't love me then nobody will
Running down Bald Hill pulling out my hair
If Katie don't love me then I'm really nowhere
Arrow through my heart falling down Bald Hill
If Janie don't want me then how about Jill?

But I'm saving myself for Beth Orton
Got to find a way to be her beau
No more aching, faking, guessing, last resorting
I'm erasing all my tapes for Beth O

I'm saving myself for Beth Orton
I'm playing my last ace for Beth O

No more girls that are wrong for me
No more Bald Hill, no more dead trees
I'm walking on the ground in the sky blue sky
Looking in my own heart, my oh my!

I'm saving myself for Beth Orton....

(Beth, this is really my first time...)

Where We Are

Written By: Fred Senecal

Is there anywhere to go but where we are?
Is there anything to see but what we see?
Is there anyone to be but who we are?
Is love the only thing we really need?

Is there anything at all that we can say
To make things feel like they're OK
Is there anything at all that we can do
To make those words seem like they're true?

I made a promise
To find out what life is

Is there somewhere in the world that we can find
That wasn't in our head all of the time?
Is there somewhere in our head that we have found
That wasn't being busy being all around?

I made a promise...

Is there anywhere at all that we can roam
To make our hearts feel like they're home?

I made a promise...

Is there anywhere to go...

Spider Song

Written By: Fred Senecal

I had a little tete-a-tete with the spider in my sink
And he began to tell me all the ways that spiders think
But I never really listened and I can't pretend I know
Just how to be a spider if the opportunity arose

I had a little disagreement with the spider in my sink
And he looked kind of rubbery-legged when I offered him a drink
But he never really answered when I asked him about all that
He just waved as he went down the drain, ain't spiders just like that?

And I never really listened and I can't pretend I know
Just how to be arachnid if the opportunity arose

I had a little reunion with the spider in my sink
And we held our conversation and we drank our spider drinks
But I never really answered when he asked me about all that
I just smiled as I went down the drain, ain't people just like that?

I just waved as I went down the drain, ain't people just like that?
