Saturday’s main stage entertainment kicked off for me with Fred’s House, an endearing foursome who had the appearance of Scooby-Doo’s mystery crew and the sound of The Magic Numbers. Fred's House are a chill-out folk band whose band members come from more different locations than most bands visit on tour.
'Mother Of Three' is a tranquil tune with a nice rhythmic shuffle and alluring soft melody. There is melancholy in the chords and perhaps a little pity in the lyrics, but the song is rich and varied - not at all downbeat.
With an a capella introduction that showcases the harmonic talents of the band, 'TV For Sleepers' is the rocket-ship and moonbeam reminiscence of the sixties and seventies.
Fred's House have a really pleasing sound, with real vocal talent. The songs conjure up over forty years of classic pop folk and it is all made to the highest possible standards. - Micheal Beck

"Fred's House rock the crowd!" Cambridge News
Fred's House are a folk-pop band based in Cambridge UK with influences ranging from the likes of Simon and Garfunkel to The Coral, The Magic Numbers to The Swell Season. Acousic based laiden with sweet three part vocal harmonies, intricate guitar riffs and sweeping melodic bass lines.
The quartet have received airplay for T.V. for Sleepers and Someone Else's Road on Tom Robinson's Show BBC 6 Music as well as recently having live sessions with Sue Marchant BBC Eastern Counties, and BBC Introducing Cambridgeshire with Kerry Devine, played on BBC Radio Wales on Adam Walton's show, Radio Caroline and local radio stations. Fred's House played lots of summer festivals in 2011 including the BBC Introducing Stage at Cambridge Rock Festival, The Bakewell Acoustic Music Festival and Strawberry Fair and they have supported some great indie artists including Sea of Bees, Leah Mason, Johnny Foreigner, Lucy Rose and Treetop Flyers. For 2012 they are already confirmed for The Acoustic Festival of Britain, Cambridge Folk Festival, Secret Garden Party and Bestival to name but a few.
Fred's House formed only in February of 2010, when The Wentways, Gafyn, Lachlan and former drummer Alan Neale, lost their singer due to 'artistic differences'. Griff and Vikki "Griff and Vix" a London based duo were recording a few of their songs with producer NoisyFred and asked Gafyn if he would like to play bass for their recordings, to which he replied, 'I'll bring the whole band!' So it was at Fred's House where they spent the weekend in the studio. With the Brother’s Griff and Gafyn playing together once again and everything falling quickly into place, the band hit it off and played their first gig together a week later in the Big Smoke, although they are ashamed to admit that most of the songs in the set that night were learnt by sending mp3's via email and rehearsed for the first time during the sound check, seat of your pants stylee! These were to be their first recordings which appear on the band’s first E.P.
Now the band have just released their second E.P. titled “Looking Glass” which was release in April 2012.
