Bio

A BRILLIANT drummer, musician, composer and charismatic performer. Fred Spraggins is leaving an indelible mark on the music world. Fred's love affair with music and drumming is characterized by his boundless energy, unabashed enthusiasm, and pure joy that radiates from his performances. Following in the footsteps of other great Alabamian musicians, such as Diana Ross, Lionel Ritchie and Rueben Studdard, Fred continues the traditions of great artists with "southern roots."

Fred decided early on, while playing with his group, "The Concept" and opening up for such acts as The Four Tops, Al Green, The Mighty Clouds of Joy, James Brown, Dionne Warwick, and George Clinton, to name a few, that he wanted to make his mark musically as an instrumentalist and composer. As his professional career progressed, the group, "The Concept" continued to open for major industry artists as George Howard, Waymon Tisdale, Luther Ingram, Alex Bugnon, Gerald Levert, Peabo Bryson, Norman Connor, and Hugh Masakela.

Fred Spraggins takes his game to the next level on his debut CD titled, "The Human Factor." He has it right in how he brings it on this CD, melding funk, jazz, groove, and rhythm into a soul flow that excites the mind as well as the ears and head. Much like the venerated and incomparable Miles Davis, Fred never does anything nice and easy - on each track, his harmonic invention, sheer energy, and versatility will simply blow you away. At the same time, the integrity of the music and the unforgettable melodies are an unbelievable combination sure to garner Fred accolades and new fans.

The power of Fred's musical style is ably demonstrated on the track, "A Funky Side of Things." The Funky Side of Things is the vision of being different, much like Miles Davis, but still being able to bring people together to vibe on the different genres of jazz such as funk, traditional, smooth, R&B, straight-ahead and so on.

Fred Spraggins possesses a musical athleticism that fits his focused approach to music. Like an athlete, he admits that challenging himself to reach ever-higher levels of achievement is what inspires him. The Human Factor an exciting debut CD which will take its listeners to the level of musical satisfaction for years to come.
