Bio

Their debut 6 song release “Black Market Propaganda” was recorded at Greenhouse Studios with Al Levy (40 Foot Echo) and Ryan Andersen (Nickleback, Thornley) in 2002. Mike Usinger, music editor in chief of “The Georgia Straight” was quoted in his review of the E.P. “In a world where every career oriented modern rock band wants to sound like Creed, FreeBase shoots for something a little more.” On February 2nd 2003 the lead-off single “Resurrection” was Garageband.com’s featured track of the day after climbing into the top ten on the Hard Rock Charts among thousands of entries from around the world.

They followed up with 2 E.P.s “Sucker” and “Better Me” recorded at Fortissimo Sound Studios with producer Doug Fury (Bif Naked, Scatterheart). In 2007 four of their tracks were featured prominently in Grubworks Productions extreme dirt bike video “Northwest Dirt Culture II”. 2008 saw the release of a compilation of their best previously released material “Blood And Guts”.

FreeBase’s newest single “Bad Breaks” was recorded at Fleetwood Sound Studios with Dave Ottoson the lead singer from the now defunct yet locally legendary rock band Noise Therapy and current vocalist of the up and coming “Stealing Eden” project co-produced by Trevor Hurst of Econoline Crush. The track represents yet another stylistic departure in their ever-expanding repertoire combining Rage or Chili's style verses with huge, anthemic choruses.

Years of grinding it out in the unforgiving club circuit of East Vancouver, FreeBase has evolved into a wickedly tight, frantic and balls to the wall live animal on stage. FreeBase always delivers a 110% performance, whether it’s in front of 5 people or 500. Their goal is simple: Win you over and convert you into a die hard fan with passion, conviction and ultimately the quality of their music.
