Lyrics

You and I

Written By: Huettig/Goins/Torrance

Verse 1
When I feel like dying, you look into my eyes
I know that you will help me, make it through the night
When I hear you crying, I look into your eyes
I tell you that I love you and that things will be all right

Chorus
Cause you, you and I, we live in a dream
I am your knight, you are my queen
We’d live in love by the sea
We’d sail together just you and me

Verse 2
When you and I were younger, we’d pass each other by
I’d lie awake just hoping, that you would be all mine
Realize it’s over, we’ve destroyed our foolish lies
We built ourselves a castle where we’ll spend the rest of our lives

The Slide

Written By: Huettig/Goins

Oh yea
Here it goes

Verse 1
I remember the morning I met him
He was sitting on a garbage can
An old guitar and a bottle of whiskey
Was all it looked like he really had

Chorus 1
They say he’d been around the world a time or two
But there aint nothin he’d rather do
Then sit around and pass the time
Playin his guitar
With a slide

Verse 2
He picked up that old guitar
Threw a strap on his shoulder
And he leaned on back
He pulled a slide out of his pocket
Then he took a deep breath
And let it all out

Chorus 2
I been around the world a time or two
But there aint nothin I’d rather do
Then sit around and pass the time
Playin my guitar
With a slide

Verse 3
The people came from all around
Just to hear him play and sing his song
They would dance in the streets
And he would play that guitar all night long

Chorus 3
He’d been around the world a time or two
But there aint nothin he’d rather do
Then sit around and pass the time
Playin on that guitar
With a slide
With a slide
With a slide

The Ghost of Mary Green

Written By: Huettig/Goins

Verse 1
In a town down in the South, were the moss covers all the trees
On the bayou late at night, they say you can still hear the screams
Some say she was the captain; they called her the riverboat queen
And if you spend the night in the Manchaca swamp they say you will believe

Chorus1
They say you will believe, in the ghost of Mary Green
They say you’ll see some things, you just won’t believe oh no

Verse 2
Just a little bit past midnight, you feel the cold wind blow
Your body starts to tremble, the door closes on it’s own
You hear voices down the hallway; you see shadows on the wall
You hear footsteps right behind you; she won’t leave you alone

Chorus 2
They say you will believe, in the ghost of Mary Green
They say you’ll see some things, you aint never seen

Solo

Verse 3
So if you get the nerve, just take the trip, and soon you will agree
Reserve your place, room 109, aboard the Delta Queen
Mary finished her last days here, and still haunts the Cajun Queen
Not a day goes past, or a night go by, When old Mary can’t be seen

Chorus 3
They say you will believe, in the ghost of Mary Green, Oh yea
They say you’ll be afraid, unlike you’ve ever been
They say you will believe, in the ghost of Mary Green
Oh you’ll see some things, you just wait and see.

Rev It Up

Written By: Huettig/Goins

Verse 1
Stereo cranked up windows down
Cruisin through the center of town
People walkin down the street
I’m just rockin to the beat
Traffic lights turn red to green
When I go by I make a scene
Line up with the boys downtown
Rev it up and drop it down

Chorus
Rev it up, drop it down
Make it scream, through the middle of town
Rev it up, shake the ground
No mistakes, aint no time for breakdowns

Verse 2
She was all I ever dreamed
Hotter than the summer heat
As I’m shiftin through the gears
She softly whispered in my ear
You are all I really need
Come on baby give it to me
As I heard those words leave her mouth
I revved it up and dropped it down

Chorus

Bridge
Hold on tight, I’ll take you through the night
We’ll travel through, to the other side
When we cross that line, we’ll be doin fine
Let me know then, if you want to go again

No More

Written By: Huettig/Goins

Verse
What you want isn’t what you get
You had you chance time has come and went
Falling apart, can’t cover you tracks
Baby don’t cry wolf, cause I’m not coming back here

Chorus
No more, no I’m not coming back here no more
No more, no you won’t see me round here no more

Verse 2
Too many times I’ve looked away
And too many times I decided to stay
Forgave you once now I see the sign
You have broken my soul for the very last time

Chorus 2
No more, no I’m not coming back here no more
No more, girl you won’t see me round here no more
Gave you every chance I could give but no more

Solo
Verse 3
Sorry now doesn’t mean a thing
There’s nothing here worth rescuing
Throw my heart to the lion’s den
Once wasn’t enough so you do it again

Chorus 3
I said no more, no I’m not coming back here no more
No more, girl you won’t see me round here no more

Bridge
No more, no more, no more, won’t see me no more
No won’t see me no more, no more

Oh no more, n,n,n,na, no more
Oh no
Not coming home, not coming home
No I’m not coming home

Kettlebottom Blues

Written By: Huettig/Goins/Goins

Well it’s been ten years since You’ve been gone
But I’ll just keep on rollin on
You never know how much you’ve got to loose
Until you’ve had a taste of kettle bottom blues

You learned to love, you learned to hate
You learned to give, and you learned to take
Learned right from wrong, and in the end
You learned to cry, but you forgot to live

I spent too much time living all my lies
And it’s much too late to compromise
I try so hard not to forget about you
I can’t rise above the kettle bottom blues

When the night moves in, and I’m all alone
I loose myself, and then I loose control
And I wonder how, things went so wrong
I left my soul, down Old Kettle Bottom road

It gets inside of you
Tares you apart can’t take no more
And there’s nothing you can do
When you got the kettle bottom blues oh no

Solo kettle bottom blues

Well it’s been ten years I’m on my own
And I’ve seen enough to say I’ve seen it all
When finally lost all you’ve got to loose
Time to rise above the kettle bottom blues

Kettle bottom blues
Kettle bottom blues oh
The kettle bottom blues
Well I said I’m gonna rise above the kettle bottom blues

Hit the Bricks

Written By: Huettig/Goins

Verse 1
Good time to tell me now your gone
Did you get everything you want
So you turn your back and leave it all behind now baby
While I’m picking up pieces off the floor
Why don’t you throw me a little more?
Cause I know that it’ll brighten up your day someway
Still I know you’re not around
I can’t seem to put you down

Chorus
Just hit the bricks
You took everything you wanted
I got nothing that I needed
So just hit the bricks
It was something that I wanted
But nothing ever happened
Just hit the bricks

Verse 2
Nothing new about being on my own
I’ve been down that road before
And I know that I’ll find my way on through this baby
Good times and places I have known
All the hard times that made me grow
And all things that I said that never meant a thing to you no
If I stumble or if I fall
Would you help me or would you hurt me
Would you tear my world apart even more now
Still I know you’re not around
I can’t seem to put you down
Chorus

Bridge

Verse 3
Wonder why my blue sky turned to gray
I can see you’ll never change
And I know that you’ll find a way to get to me baby
New lies and faces all unknown
But the blame goes on and on
Nothing like selling yourself to someone who doesn’t really need you
(Chorus twice)

Freedom

Written By: Huettig/Goins

Verse
It’s been a while; you’ve been tied down
But now you finally have broke free
After a while, it all works out
And you will see things differently
Pre-Chorus
And all you got was your freedom
Freedom is all that you need
Verse 2
A different story, you turn the page
But all the words still read the same
And though your lonely, your soul is free
Like the wind, blowing through the trees

And you got your freedom, freedom to run
It may take a little time, but you will find love
You got your freedom, but you don’t really see
All you got was your freedom, but that’s all you need

Bridge
Hey hey hey hey, freedom…yeah, yeah, freedom
Hey, yeah, freedom…oh, oh, oh…free… free

Now you finally have broke free
After a while, it all works out
And you will find your destiny

It may take a little time, but you will love again
You’ve got your freedom, freedom to run
And now you got your freedom, to put down your gun
Put down your gun
Put down your gun
Put down your gun

You tried so damn hard, to make it all work out

But if you figure love out, brother let me know
I’ve been tryin myself, for a long long time
I’ve been searchin my soul, up and down
You know and I aint figured it out by now

It aint fancy here with the hound
Better learn your lesson
Out here in the dog house

Out here in the dog house, Out here in the dog house
Out here in the dog house

(Better learn your lesson when your in the dog house)

The Stranger

Written By: Huettig/Goins/Goins

Verse 1
I want to tell you all a story
About a legend in this town
He lived behind a veil of darkness
Never to be found
From across the barren wasteland
They say he wasn’t one of us
And somewhere down the road from here
He still watches over us

Verse 2
Every time I hear the tale
The mystery remains
No one really knows for sure
But everyone believes
The man that cast no shadow
The stranger with no face
Sent here from someplace up above
Or standing at hells gate?

Chorus
As the crow flies south to the edge of town
The rope still hangs in the old oak bough
That’s just one place that you should not go
They never buried the old man’s bones

Solo

Verse 3
A shot rang out like thunder
To break the balance of the night
Another one you wonder?
Who won’t return tonight
I thought I saw the stranger
At the bottom of the hill
He nodded without speaking
Does he wonder out there still?

(Chorus twice)
