Bio

Growing up in the “legendary” town of Muskogee, Oklahoma, you could say that Free Kennedy was destined to pursue a career in country music. From an early age, Kennedy started learning to sing and play guitar, with great support from both his mother and father, who also happened to be a guitarist. From his parent's vast record collection, Kennedy began listening to, learning from, and copying the styles of Johnny Cash, James Taylor and The Eagles.

From the time he was a young teen, Kennedy realized the power of singing and playing music. “I really started getting attention from girls and that was my initial drive to keep playing and performing,” Kennedy laughs. “As I got older though, I really began to truly love making music and performing live, and I finally realized I had to give it a serious shot as a career,” Kennedy says.

Searching for a bigger and better music scene, Kennedy moved to Chicago, where he fronted the rock, pop and country bands, The Haze, and Curbside Life. Generating a large local and statewide following playing various clubs and venues, The Haze began to get local and regional radio play throughout the Chicago area. Kennedy used the time fronting these bands to truly perfect his performing, interviewing and stage presence. After experiencing much success, the bands disbanded as the members each pursued other careers.

Still wanting to pursue a career in music, Kennedy decided the best route would be to cut a solo country record. The new record would be the beginning of a promising new start to Kennedy's music career. Using some of the best session musicians in Nashville, Kennedy cut six of the best songs representing everyday life, including his own. “I wanted to cut songs that really spoke to everyone and that everyone could relate to. Growing up, falling in love, losing love, everyone's had those experiences,” says Kennedy.

After completing his solo record, Kennedy began shopping himself and his record around to Nashville's top record labels, managers and producers. Eventually coming to the attention of 618 Music Group President, Zach Scott, Kennedy was immediately offered a management and recording contract with 618 Music Group. “I loved the songs, style and voice that Free brought to the table. He has a unique style that sets him apart from other acts in the country genre, but a style and quality that still appeals to a mass audience in the country genre,” says Scott.

Working with 618 Music Group, Kennedy is excited and looking forward to the next steps in his music career. “I'm really excited about what 618 Music brings to the table, they have the resources, knowledge and experience to help guide me in the right directions to expand my fan base,” says Kennedy. “We're all looking forward to working together with Free to help him accomplish all of his goals in the music industry,” says 618 Music Group President, Zach Scott.
