Bio
Lydon Samuda, better known as Freekstile, was born in Brooklyn, New York on December 14, 1990. Growing up as the son of a veteran disc jockey, Freekstile decided at the age of 9 that he would be pursuing a career in music. With his father's guidance and assistance, this young Brooklyn emcee was able to be mentored by the late Sven Hinds, who taught him everything about the genre of Hip-Hop. During his mentorship, Freekstile was introduced to the art of "battle rapping," where it was quickly realized that a strong vocabulary and witty lyrical punchlines would be key components to Freekstiles's success as a rapper.
Being influenced by his Jamaican and Japanese decent, Freekstile decided to create his own unique style of rapping, which was quickly perceived as a hybrid or better yet a "freekey-style" of rapping. Inspired by the society he viewed around him, the subject matter of Freek's music was perfectly blended to represent his Brooklyn upbringing mixed with one of his favorite hobbies since he was younger, Anime and gaming. With a personality that can be described as quiet and humble, once in the studio, Freekstile's attitude and demeanor cannot be describe as such. Being the captain of his crew, F1DG (Forever 1 Dumb Genius) Freekstile has devoted countless hours recording music he feels will be the voice of his community and his fellow Brooklyn clique.
Some of Freekstile's projects include featured artists and production from Eddie Hill, Futuristic Lingo, Jahbari, Sugar Shane, Vinny Vintage, JoeyG, 24/7, Jahlil Beats, and fellow F1DG teammate, Llama.
Recent releases from this up and coming Brooklyn-ite are entitled Open House, Golden House (collaboration project with Brooklyn native, JoeyG of the Humanauts), The Xommon Mixtape (Industry Mixtape), and Vigilante, which has been said to be Freekstile's best mixtape to date.
Look out for some future projects being released in the summer/fall of 2013: Nakamura, the prequel to Freekstile's highly anticipated mixtape Anime Hero, which is to be hosted by Shade 45s Mr. Peter Parker, is entitled Anime Hero.
