Free Sophia was formed just 2 short months ago when a booking conflict arose with Wimberly and Disney's other music endeavor. The dynamic duo found four of the most incredible musicians Cincinnati has to offer and formed a revolutionary new look at music and the world. I remember Disney saying to the rest of the group at our first full band practice, "Welcome to the band guys. We'll figure out a name later. For right now, we have a show in two weeks." Since that time, Free Sophia has developed a sound that's diverse and unique, yet sounds like something we've all been listening to for years. The smooth jazzy sway of the 12-string and saxophone meet the stellar riffs and lightning solo's of the occasional triad of electric guitars, screaming 3 part harmonies to each other over the driving melodies formed by bass and drum.
The dynamics of Free Sophia are always changing. So much so that members will occasionally get up and switch instruments!
Free Sophia is a band that everyone can relate to, no matter their musical preferences. We have a little bit of everything and a universal message of understanding and self-realization that inspires listeners to be happy. And that's exactly what we're shooting for, Feel Good Music.
