Hey, I was under the impression that freewheeling meant you weren’t getting traction. Heck, these guys are burning rubber so you had better hang on. Maurice Kurtz, Valley FM

Nice tune. Like it a lot. A nice surprise at the end of this collection.

Bio

"I'm not usually too fond of bluegrass bands from the North, but you guys seem to have it all. Solid lead and good harmony backed with some very creative instrumentation. Y'all done good."

Tom Henderson, "This is Bluegrass" WMNF Tampa, FL

Reading this statement was one of our proudest moments! To be recognized as a band with that "Bluegrass Sound" is one of the highest compliments we could be given.

Freewheelin' is a hard-working band both on and off stage, but our main goal is to have fun with the audience and leave them entertained with quality music. Heck, we've have been known to get so happy that we start giving away our mechandise from the stage!

Our roots run deep into the genre of Bluegrass with such involvement as Bluegrass DJ, promoting shows, performing with various bands and our banjo player even spent time as the sound and lighting technician for the internationally acclaimed, Lonesome River Band.

Freewheelin' has also developed a chldren's program for festival use. We work with the children in a number of "workshop" settings, teaching them songs and stage techinque. During our last performance at the festival, usually Sunday, we invite the children to join us on stage and help us with our set. It is a real crowd pleaser!

Our influences start with Flatt & Scruggs and continue on up to the Lonesome River Band, Lou Reid & Carolina, and other modern day Bluegrass bands. Freewheelin' also performs original tunes, hot instrumentals and older country tunes ala George Jones and Merle Haggard.

Freewheelin' was a participating act at the 2006 Joe Val Bluegrass Festival, named the International Bluegrass Music Association (IBMA) "2006 Event of the Year"

Freewheelin' is a proud member of both IBMA & SPBGMA.
