Bio

FreeZone was formed in June 2009 by William Lottering, Derek Springer and lead guitarist Armin Moller and was later joined by drummer Calvin Davis. All band members come from the local music scene around Margate and have played in different bands before. FreeZone has performed in various venues in and around the South Coast and has received a warm welcome and great local support. They write and play original songs which they define as ‘South Coast Rock’. FreeZone recorded a demo CD called 'into the heat' and subsequently won the Platinum Band Contest 2010 in Durban.
They just released their first single 'Who would have thought' and are now recording a full CD in the new studio of Pure Platinum Music in Durban. The release of the CD is planned for May 2011. Their music, mainly rock and rock ballads, has an international flair. The lead singer’s (William) ‘Jack Daniels’ voice has a definite Nickelback/Aerosmith feel and the general band performance is rebellious and outstandingly entertaining. Derek Springer (bass), German lead guitarist Armin Moller (ex Burning Soul) and drummer Calvin Davis (ex Painting June) are also some of the South Coast’s hidden secrets. Pure Platinum Music has a lot of work on their hands. Manoj Bhudu (part-owner / executive producer): “ Working with Freezone has been awesome, the general fluidity in which they relate to each other whilst performing and recording is outstanding and you can definitely feel it through their music. This band won because of their zeal for life, stage presence and band energy – it just comes naturally for them.”
