"French Cassettes a sound worth hearing"

Yes, French Cassettes is a young band. Three of its members are still in high school.

And yes, the group comes from a small town: Ripon, population 14,000.

But none of that is important, despite what hipsters and the media may say. They'll pigeonhole the band as a novelty if they decide it's too young or from too small a city.

All that should matter is the music - and French Cassettes has an intense indie-rock sound that's worth hearing.

That focus on originality caught the attention of the judges and the crowd of more than 1,000 on Feb. 9 at the 45th Annual Battle of the Bands at Chabot College in Hayward. It was French Cassettes' biggest show by far, and the group ended up winning over 11 other acts. - Ian Hill (February 22, 2008)

"Seahorse" is the name of our 6 song EP that we just put out ourselves

In the small town of Ripon, California, it is hard to find anything but churches and houses. Rarely do you hear the sound of music being practiced, if anything, with the exception of French Cassettes of course. It started out as two brothers(Thomas and Scott Huerta) and then eventually grew to a six piece due to more technically constructed songs. All of their music was created from Mackenzie's garage(the only available rehearsing space). Blazing in the summer...freezing in the winter.

They take influence from foreign countries, lovely licks, lack of sleep and not drugs.

Fun Facts: They took first in the 45th Annual Hayward Battle of the Bands, took second in the 2nd Annual Bay Rising Battle of the Bands.
