Bio
French Films is a five-piece indie rock band from Finland. Their music is often described as a mixture of sunny surf rock and new wave. The group got started in 2010 by putting couple of home demos on their myspace page, which led to largely positive feedback and interest all over the world. In November 2010 the band released their first EP, Golden Sea. After the release the bands has toured already in 11 different countries, received lots of good reviews and their music has been featured in different surf movies.
The debut album of French Films is called Imaginary Future. It was mainly written in the summer/fall 2010. Recorded and mixed by the bands keyboardist Santtu Vainio and sound engineer Valtteri Väänänen, the band managed to slowly create their first LP, which continues further from where they ended up with their EP Golden Sea.
The album contains 10 songs about being alive and about the struggle between the fading dreams of childhood and the growing cynicism, forced upon by the surrounding reality. With its combination of sunny and cloudy sounds, wide echoes, young energetic drive and escapistic vocals sung by several lead singers, the music creates its own world full of islands, mountains and celebration, where the joke is on those who praise the unequal system and the questionable truths. But when the last track ends, you wake up to the reality again and remember that its not the worst, yet. This album is an ode to the young and young-hearted minds.
