“Fresh Air is one of those groups with enlightening lyrics and solid production. This is a group that I predict will make a lot of noise in the future and will be one of the many groundbreaking groups to breathe new life into this thing called hip-hop.” - Jointz Magazine
“These cats have something to say, know how to say it, possess some serious production skills, and even the label knows how to master and press the damn thing.” - XLR8R Magazine
“It’s obvious that Fresh Air have a real love for hip-hop. With thick hypnotic grooves reminiscent of Native Tongues at their coolest, [they] keep it righteous on the microphones, with uplifting and insightful lyricism. “ - URB Magazine
“1/2 teaspoon of Pete Rock, 1 ounce of Brother J of X Clan, and a couple drops of Kweli and you got yourself a nice serving of FRESH AIR!! I really don’t know why I’m comparing these cats. Fresh Air takes me back to 92 yet still sounding fresh and new. The unsung heroes of hip hop!” - Tables of Content Radio

Bio
Rated as a Next 100 by URB Magazine 2004 for the initial 12” release of “Dreamin” and “NO?” Fresh Air is primed to catapult off of their follow-up 12” of “Feels Good” and “The CALL” with the release of the highly anticipated EP by Fresh Air titled, SLOWLY COMING ALONG…
With the release of their EP, Slowly Coming Along… Fresh Air builds upon vibrant and refreshing energy delivering unparalleled hip-hop with vivid imagery and intellect as it flows between lyrical boasts and poignant social commentary. Energized by their love of hip hop and tenacity to change the game, Fresh Air seeks to encourage young people through an intelligent display of poetry and melodic lyrics with jazz and blues rhythms of yesteryear. Fresh Air stirs emotions and creativity that have allowed the group to be recognized on the global arena and sought out by a diverse mix of music lovers.
Fresh Air is more than just a hip hop group. Fresh Air is a way of being, a mind state. Fresh Air calls on the listener to expand the realm of their thinking, to take action to be a positive force for society and the world. Comprised of two young men who grew up exposed to vastly different parts of America they have all found hip hop as a common, bonding force. Khalil emcee and producer, and DJ Frank(E) look to enlighten people with their collective perspective and experiences.
Ajamu Khalil Ekulona, who goes simply by, KHALIL, is the lead Emcee for Fresh Air, producing beats and rhymes. For the past 5 years he has been a teacher for emotionally disturbed, at-risk teenagers in southern California. He believes that the group is building the "bridge" so that all people on both sides of hip hop, America, and the world may find their common bond and realize that no matter how different we may seem to each other we still breathe.
Frank E. Aceves, also known as DJ FRANK(E) is the DJ of the Fresh Air crew. He loves music, loves hip-hop, and through his knowledge and skills on the turntables will further enhance Fresh Air's sound. Now in his tenth year as a DJ, when FRANK(E) touches the turntables, not only will you hear music with timeless qualities, but you will feel his passion and love for the sounds, beats, and instrumentation through his programming, cuts, doubles, and overall presentation.
