Fresh Meat: 5 Stars

Hot damn! Bust out the big fork and hoof your bad self down to Theatre on the Square for some Fresh Meat. This NYC outfit makes a mash-up of pre-recorded audio and video bits and live-action sketch comedy and the result is … well, it’s really freakin’ funny is what it is. There is laughing and then there are the great gushing guffaws that Michael Feldman, Julie Katz and Adam Laupus push their audience through. The trio lampoon the absurdities, hierarchies and banalities of interpersonal relations and take a few choice swipes at media culture to boot. As hyper-similar talking heads on Crossfire, they slap each other silly to show how much they agree with each other. A Microsoft-style icon helps a young woman pen a suicide note. A home shopping network host sells Polish Remover. “You know what I hate about my Poles? They always smell like sausage.” Smartly written and well-delivered.

"Regina Canada Festival"

Fresh Meat: Performers are among a Fringe Festival's most enthusiastic supporters, so it came as no surprise that the opening night audience for “Grace Before Meals” included Julie Katz, Michael Feldman, and Adam M. Laupus, known collectively as Fresh Meat NYC.
This is a sketch comedy team, and its contribution to the Regina Fringe is a multi-media production called “Fresh Meat: Well Done” which combines live performance with previously recorded material – and lives up to its title.
A spoof of stereotypes and heaven knows there is no shortage of them in Western society, “Fresh Meat: Well Done” deserves praise for its ambition alone. Laupus, Feldman and Katz are clearly willing to take risks. They have to be – they do underground sketch comedy.
True to its vaudeville roots and traditions, sketch comedy is a hit-and-miss proposition – that’s the nature of the beast. But while there are times when Katz, Feldman and Laupus fail to connect (at least, with me) these are out-numbered by their bull’s-eyes.
As much as I’d love to, I won’t cite examples. Quite a few of the sketches depend on the snappy one-liner, or a punch line, and I wouldn’t want to spoil anything for you.
This much I can say: Katz is absolutely hilarious as an actor winging it during a television commercial for nail polish remover. She thinks it’s Polish remover.
Feldman and Laupus are at their finest in “The Arab and The Jew” Inspired by “The Odd Couple,” this remake has a landlord who is a UN peacekeeper – and the threat of eviction looms large.

Truly original in content. Funny as hell and topical to todays social politics. And how could you miss seeing a giant paperclip, a pie in the face, and two men topless riding each other! And the girl in the troupe is HOT too! You shouldnt miss it- it should be voted best of FRINGE!

Holy crap these guys are hysterical. Their show is in the same style as Saturday Night Live but they are a whole lot funnier. Their comedy is is very edgy and smart. I felt like I was getting a real taste of what the New York City comedy scene is like and I'm so glad I did! This show is not to be missed.

Something for everyone here. A nice collection of live and pre-produced bits flowing together to form an entertaining, well-honed show. These three work very well together and are obviously having fun doing it. Very funny--I had a great time!

Funny, well written sketch comedy that interchanges live performance with recorded voiceovers & videos. The three cast members are all quite talented and clearly have a good rapport together. Smart sketch comedy is difficult to do; they make it look easy. Unfortunately, Tuesday is their last performance. They deserve a packed house.
