Founded
in 2013 by Ian Hughes and David Dolengewicz, Freudian Slurp, was forged
as the multi-talented cousin, of the Hughes and Dolengewicz, Guitar and
Sax duo: Edgar Allen Potato. The desire to expand their current
arrangements, urged them to build a sound based around the rough
alternative rock they heard on the radio growing mixed with the quirky
modern jazz they have come to love and study as adults.
The band includes Ian Hughes expanded musical family, Bassist/Brother
Dylan Hughes, and Drummer Kyle Kirkpatrick. Freudian Slurp is about
joyful musical freedom, and an exuberant exploration of the musical
sibling relationships the band mates have nurtured over time.
Slurp plays a variety of
music, borrowed and original: Jazz standards, Funk, Rock and Soul
Covers as well as a plethora of songs and instrumentals composed by Dave
and Ian. The band has hours of grooves to lay down.
