Bio

Friday Nights is a collaboration between singer/songwriter Mike Castillo and musician/songwriter/producer Shon Kornfeld.

Castillo sharpened his songwriting skills by playing such Los Angeles landmarks as the Venice Beach Boardwalk and 3rd Street Promenade. He eventually formed rock band, "If You See Kate", who self-released a CD in 2004 and played around LA for a couple of years before disbanding.

Kornfeld, who's primary instrument is guitar, has written, produced, recorded and self-released CDs from his bands Helen 55 and Fontaine. He has toured nationally with the Bulletboys, a brief stint with LA punk band Stanford Prison Experiment, and continues to record and produce local artists.

The 2 first met in 1998 when Castillo approached Kornfeld after a Helen 55 show. He found himself occasionally working for the band as a roadie and would learn all their songs on guitar. Kornfeld saw talent in the then 16 year-old Castillo, and they would keep in touch. In 2005 after IYSK disbanded, Kornfeld offered to record Castillo's "best song" for free at his home studio, Moai Sounds. They wound up recording 4 songs before deciding to combine their recent material and do a complete record.

The self-titled debut album, "Friday Nights" is now available on www.fridaynightsmusic.com
