4th Annual “Ride for Habitat,” Saturday, June 19
The South Shore Habitat for Humanity is holding its 4th annual “Ride for Habitat” bike ride to raise funds for local Habitat builds.
The ride begins and ends at Wompatuck State Park on Saturday, June 19, 2010. There will be two different routes available to riders – a 25-mile loop running through Cohasset and Scituate Harbor along the coastline, and a 50-mile loop along the coast through Scituate, Humarock, Cohasset, Hull, and back to Hinhgam.
The 50-mile circuit begins at 7:30 a.m., with the 25-mile circuit following at 9 a.m. There is a $25 registration fee for either ride. Every rider that raises the suggested fund-raising amount of $300 or more will receive a complimentary bicycle jersey from Habitat. All riders will receive a free South Shore Habitat t-shirt. Helmets are required for all riders. Registration can be done through our website www.sshabitat.org or by phone at 781-337-7744.
Donations can be made to a specified town on the South Shore or can be undesignated and dispersed by South Shore Habitat. Don’t wish to ride but want to help? There will be a barbecue following the ride in Wompatuck State Park for all participants and their family members. The popular South Shore musical band Friends of Harvey will be onsite and playing live music as well.
Since the number of registered riders has exceeded this time last year, we are confident we will surpass the $12,000 raised in 2009 for homes in Hanover, Hingham, and Stoughton. With your help we can fund even more builds this year! Bring the whole family and come out to support your community!

Luckily Friends of Harvey has formed a union of allied musical tradespeople well versed in creating synchronized noise specially designed to get the junk in your trunk shakin’ and bakin’. Seared together from the four corners of the greater Boston area they found each other wandering the mystical halls of their open minds, or was it the halls of medicine? Seeking mentho-lyptus as well as answers to questions like “how much does a cloud weigh” and “is a pigeon a flying rat or is a rat a flightless pigeon” they endeavor to find each of these through music.
So let Friends of Harvey enter the fertile void of your mind. Let them occupy the space between your thoughts and get right at the heart of the pain cat inside of you. We mock it, stomping on its tail and pulling at its whiskers. Just relax and you won’t feel a thing.
