Bio

Friends of Jack consists of brothers Darryl and Chad John and their cousin Paul John, all of whom were born and raised in St. Alban's, Newfoundland. Recently, Steve Drake, who was also born and raised in Newfoundland and Kevin Connors, joined the band. The music styling of Friends of Jack is high energy mixed with sibling harmony, a key element to their sound. Their music also has an acoustic component that incorporates acoustic guitar and fiddle into their songs.

While playing on the club scene in Newfoundland, in the early part of the 2000's, the band was able to build a solid fan base. This subsequently lead them to be named the winner of Barkley's "2002 Starsearch", where they successfully beat out over 40 other acts from the province. Shortly after this win, Darryl, Chad and Paul relocated to Fort McMurray, Alberta, where their fan base has continued to grow.

In 2008, the boys met Bruce Graham through his late wife, Juno nominee, Susan Graham. Bruce has played a large part in the band moving forward in their career, helping them make key contacts in the music industry, both in Canada and in the United States.

In December 2009, Friends of Jack made the long journey to Nashville where they began recording their debut album with renowned producer and engineer Bob Bullock (Susan Graham's producer in the early 1990's).

They were fortunate to work with some of the best studio musicians in the business including Darryl's dream guitar player, Brett Mason. They also worked with Chris Leuzinger, who worked with Garth Brooks, Chad Cromwell, who has worked with Neil Young and Dire Straits, Dan Dugmore, who also worked with Dire Straits, Glen Worf, John Jarvis and Wanda Vick.

In the middle of 2010, Friends of Jack released their first single to radio, "I Owe You One", followed by a media tour of Newfoundland and a radio tour in Alberta. Shortly after, the band released "The Real Deal". Both of these singles are getting significant air time on the radio and the band now has a strong following from coast to coast.

In November of 2010, the band returned to the studio to finish up their debut album at revered studio, Metal Works, located in Toronto, Ontario.

Friends of Jack's debut album is scheduled for full release early in the summer of 2011, with award winning graphic artist, Patrick Duffy, in charge of the album graphics.
