"Opening Act For Blind Boys of Alabama"

LOCAL GOSPEL GROUP TO OPEN FOR BLIND BOYS AT GRAND

Friendz To Be Showcased in Dec. 3 Holiday Concert

Friendz, a gospel quartet based in Wilmington, has been selected to open for the legendary Blind Boys of
Alabama at The Grand Opera House in Wilmington on Sunday, December 3 at 7:00 p.m.

Originally formed in 2004 for a benefit concert, Friendz now features James Gospel, Rick Yancey, Rev. Eric Smith and Bishop Isaiah Freeman. The group has already begun to create a presence in the local gospel scene, having for gospel festivals and in churches and schools in Wilmington, Philadelphia and South Jersey.

Friendz will release its first CD in January 2007.
Rick Yancey says, “I have known and respected Clarence Fountain for years; he is a great man. It is a
dream come true for me and the group to sing in the same concert with Clarence Fountain and the Blind Boys of Alabama.”

The December Blind Boys of Alabama concert, entitled “Go Tell It on the Mountain,” will feature gospeltinged Christmas songs from the group’s 2003 best-selling album of the same name. The concert, part of a national tour that starts November 29 with a sell-out New York show, will feature seasonal songs both traditional and innovative, such as “Away in a Manger,” “I Pray on Christmas,” “Joy to the World,”
“Born in Bethlehem,” and of course, “Go Tell It on the Mountain.”

The Grand Opera House performance is the only Delaware Valley stop on the tour.

Bio

“Friendz" is a gospel group composed of four talented young men. James Gospel, Rick Yancey and Eric Smith started it. Each has played on the same stage with such greats as, The Cantons, The William Sisters, The Southern Gates, Gospel Ambassadors and The Sensational Calvary Singers. Talking backstage at one of their engagements resulted in they should form their own group, weeks later Friendz was formed. After formation, for months they practice constantly night and day, day and night, until they got it right. During this time it drew them closer together. Once you have been in their presence, you will understand why they call themselves "Friendz". Because they are, they love being in each other’s company. They hang out together, they play together and they pray together.

Friendz eased on the Gospel Music scene and have gained a growing following and have distinguished themselves as a serious group in God's musical Ministry. Once they start to play, be sure to put your seat belts on, for with their heart - throbbing heavy beat, you will certainly be in for a musical uplifting. Friendz have raised congregations out of their seats everywhere they go. They will quickly tell you, their inspiration is strengthen by the participation of the congregation and you can hear this being transmitted through their music.

They are swiftly gaining a reputation as a group with a hard driving pulsating beat that transcends the universal Gospel modus operandi.
