"From The Dark: The Opera Ghost (Review)"

(translated German!)

So there are still simple band names that have not been used and have a little worn at the same time. FROM THE DARK is one such, and behind it lies a combo founded in Alabama in 2010, which has the classic heavy metal and scary tales prescribed.

Not roll their eyes ... There would be a band of Scandinavian linnets, they would long ago have a record deal, or even just because the rough concept - only three songs do not deal with the "Phantom of the Opera" - is well known.

In the opener, "Lot # 666" is Gaston Leroux's main female character Christine as addressed personally like once with ICED EARTH, and although FROM THE DARK match the gloomy real metal, which is currently being forged in the scene with the trend, they sound more American than the already now becoming unbearable KING DIAMOND clones. Drummer and lead singer Caleb has on top of that while being a plaintive, but not Heulbojen-like organ, which served the band to own handwriting, where they remain instrumental conservative: Here are a few thrash rides ("The Tell-Tale Heart," "The Last Laugh "), there a doom-riff or progressive epic impulses (" Flood The Soul "), and getting plenty of IRON MAIDEN (" Through The Mirror "," High Above ").

An interlude like "Wishing Again" (beautiful semi-acoustic instrumental) handed the disk to a closed character, especially since the songs act as a unified anyway. Caleb is the focal point of FROM THE DARK , be it through his virtuoso drumming or partially spine-tingling vocal lines. In addition to his original voice can be heard even when the guitarist boldness to stand, because so much also hinted the idols, as contrasted their fingerprints stand out from those of most of the imitators.

The best impression of the qualities of the group provide the tempo changes with studded "The Fall Of The House Of Usher" and the almost ten minute impeller "Final Lair", the wistful vocals are not going to get out of your head. If these men get a foot on European soil, the local competition should beware.

CONCLUSION: FROM THE DARK is one of the strongest newcomers in the field of classic heavy metal, combining U.S. and Euro-virtues to a unique sound and place in particular play culturally a class on the day that they are not exposed as fans and the way a musician, but as to authenticity and self-realization can stand artists sought. Bio

Formed in 2009; a heavy/thrash metal band with guitar leads and multiple vocal styles. We write multi-part story series songs as well as other autonomous topical songs. The band began with a three-part series on "The Fall of the House of Usher", as well as the songs "What Words Can Explain", "Anew, Ablaze", and, a little later "Lust".

Early 2011 was marked by gigging and creation of new material - in late 2011 the band began composing songs for their first album - "The Opera Ghost". The album is a concept album containing 6 songs which span the famous book/story/musical "The Phantom of the Opera", as well as three other songs on different subjects.

Upon album release the band played some an gathered great crowd reactions - but due to changes in band member's lives, the band went on a temporary hiatus.

The band recently re-united and is writing for it's second studio effort, tentatively titled "Grow Apart".

King Diamond, Metallica, Slayer, Judas Priest, Kreator, Control Denied, Megadeth, Iron Maiden, Slipknot, Disturbed, Amorphis, Death, Mercyful Fate, Nevermore

We are looking to put the melody back into metal but without compromising HEAVY music.
