Michael Morales

Michael J. Morales is coming back to the music world after a 27 year hiatus.In 1975 Michael toured the west coast as a keyboardist with a band called Crossroads. That band eventually brought him to the Northwest and the Seattle area where he met his future wife and later joined the band Chaser and played in the Seattle area until 1981.
*During that time Michael traveled through Canada ,Washington, Oregon,Idaho and California and played some of the top Seattle clubs such as Pier 70,The Greenwood Inn and The Sherwood Inn.
*After he decided to leave the band,he married, settled down, and focused on the task of raising 3 boys. "It was a choice I had to make,either pursue a music career or provide a life for my family. I chose to do the latter. I have no regrets." Michael says.
*So for the next 27 years,Michael left the music world behind."I never stopped writing or playing music during that time. I even taught myself a new instrument, the guitar, during my hibernation" Michael quips.
*Now that Michael has come back to the music scene these past 3 years, he has developed a new approach to his music. Michael tells us, "Mostly all of the songs you will hear me play now have been written on the guitar. I still consider the piano my first instrument. That was my dream from as early as I can remember, 4 years old, to play the piano. However now, I am slowly accepting the fact that I am a guitarist as well"
*Michael's songs touch on his personal life experiences, relationships and social observations. Michael states,
" In this respect, I am no different from allot of other artists in my seeking the truths in life and showing them to others the best I can. However, I really strive to remind people about the things we don't always verbalize in a sound that may be new but familiar. I think at these times it is important to keep the human condition in front of us and find a healing solution to everything around us"
*Michael's singing and acoustic guitar cover a wide variety of musical beats and influences. "I love Americana,rhythm & blues,blues,soul, jazz, world music, classical, pop, rock, folk, bluegrass. It all affects me. I try to take those influences and stir them up in a song. I am always looking for a new sound.Perhaps make my own kind of musical soup!" Michael jokes.
*Currently Michael has successfully toured down the west coast to California and played many local Seattle venues. In November 2007, Michael showcased his music at the FAR West Music Conference in Portland, and the National Folk Alliance in Memphis Tn. in Feb. of 2008. He toured the west coast again last summer in 2008. Currently the band "From Unfinished Lips" is playing the Seattle area and gaining notoriety. The band is now working on songs for a new CD due in late 2009.Some of those live versions can be heard on this EPK
