The Big Pick Funk Fest 2008
It’s a tribute to the town’s famous funk legacy tonight at the Malonga Center with performances by Mark Wright & Eargasmic, M8trix/Penthouse Sweet, The Full House Band featuring Blayze, and Moogstar (Baby Cameo) & Friends! Proceeds from the event benefit the Malonga Casquelord Center for the Arts.

Bio
The Full House Band was formed in 2006 by Darrin Hodges and Lance Striplin to support the independent Oakland record label Full House Music Group. Founded and managed by Darrin Hodges, the label has been home for years to a strong line-up of Bay Area-based hip-hop, neo-soul and gospel artists. Darrin met Lance in the studio and watched as Lance worked with a variety of Bay Area artists and musicians, and he sought Lance's expertise and advice on live band performances. The seasoned bass player impressed Darrin with his unique passion, skills and love for music. The two decided to collaborate, and a short time later, the Full House Band was in place and backing up Full House artists at live performances across the Bay Area.
Since 2006, the band has performed throughout California, opened for touring artists Ledisi and Dwele, and backed up a variety of artists from the Bay Area, United Kingdom and Australia. They have performed at venues such as Yoshis SF, Geoffreys Inner Circle in Oakland, Woodminster Ampitheater (Sundays in the Redwoods), and Stevies Creole Cafe (L.A.), and have provided entertainment for the United Negro College Fund, City of Oakland, UC Berkeley and various other community groups. The band was showcased at the first annual Soul Music By The Bay music industry conference, and has participated each year in Oaklands annual National Night Out.
