Full Moon Canoe is made up of members of other Youngstown bands Blind Man Shuffle, and Centrifuge. Formed in late 2009, Matt and Rob came together looking to form a rootsy jammy band with a focus on songwriting. The goal from the start was to have a band that is as comfortable on the back porch with acoustics as it is on the electric stage.
After a lengthy struggle to find a lead vocalist that could actually sing Veronica stepped in and the Full Moon Canoe sound was realized. Following a Spinal Tap-ish revolving door of bassists Aaron Tyger was recruited on bass and the envisioned sound started to take shape.
Songs rapidly came together and with a full slate of originals and a handful of covers the band started playing gigs in the NE Ohio area. As the fan base quickly increased requests came in to get a recording in the hands of the fans. FMC cut a 4 song demo at MindSound Studio in Youngstown in May of 2011 and plans to do a full length album within the next few months while continuing to play shows in the NE Ohio area and beyond.
