"Full Stop Rekindles Old Flame at the Eldo"

While some Coloradoans are bidding farewell to the snow with less than warm adieus this spring, many will be flocking to the Butte this weekend for one last hot hurrah.

Closing weekend on the mountain is upon us, and just as the sun has begun to warm up the bones and melt away the ice, so has the hot and sweaty funk of Full Stop begun to burn itself into the hearts of music lovers all across the front range.

As evidenced by the recent New Year's Eve performance by the funky sextet at the Eldo (with local players Children of the Horn), perhaps no place in the state has warmed up to the sultry grooves, sweltering solos and steamy vocals as quickly as Crested Butte.

This Saturday, Full Stop brings its special brand of funky rock grooves back over the pass to help us celebrate the end of another great ski season. After a stop in Gunnison on Friday night at Timbers, the band will be bringing another two sets of fresh music to the Eldo to rekindle the leftover flame from New Year's.

Rooted deeply in the tinder provided by bassist Chris Long and drummer Neil Matlock, the Full Stop fire draws its first smoke from local musician Brian Baxter on piano and organ (Gronk) and ignites into a flame with the incendiary rock soloing of Ryan Phelps on guitar. White-hot sax solos (Seth Garland) and searing vocals (Brian Rovegno) build it into a bonfire, but it's the heat released by the group's overall chemistry that keeps the flames burning all night long.

Cool off on the slopes with some great late-season skiing, but don't forget to save some energy for the dance floor on Saturday night at the Eldo. The band starts at approximately 9 PM and the cover charge is $5. - Crested Butte News
