Members of FULL TANG met while playing with the internationally recognized Afrobeat group The Superpowers.
Here they developed a musical synchronicity, and found themselves exploring other types of electric African music. In particular: Chimurenga music of Zimbabwe, Franconian Salsa of the Congo, and Highlife of Ghana and Nigeria.
Using these influences while recognizing their own roots in Rock, Funk, and Jazz, FULL TANG creates a unique hybrid of dance music.
After a few variations of personnel the core of the band was established in June 2009. Being multi-instrumentalists, they can achieve a large ensemble sound with only 4 people. At any FULL TANG show you can expect to see the bassist on drums, drummer on trumpet, guitarist on bass, and keyboardist playing bass, sax, and keys simultaneously.
They play extensively around New England, and are currently working on their first record.
