"Fulton Lee- "Water""

Any new-music lovers should familiarize themselves with Nashville's Fulton Lee, because his fresh twist on '50s soul and doo-wop is unlike anything else around. "Water" is our first taste of his sound, and it's just as refreshing as the title suggests. It contains bouncy guitar plucks, sweeping chords, and warm vocal harmonies that give a nostalgic feel, and we currently can't get enough of it. Listen below, and look out for Fulton's Baby Blue EP coming March 2. It's sure to have more good tracks like this. - Hilly Dilly

"Fulton Lee Delivers Explosive Performance at the Camel With His Take on 50s Doo Wop"

Of all the live music that I’ve seen in person, his band’s performance is possibly the most flawless and sonically pleasing I’ve had the pleasure to witness. If the band made any musical errors, they were completely undetectable. Their execution of each and every song was incredibly professional and just flashy enough to keep the whole stage visually captivating, without taking any of the focus away from Fulton’s unique vocals and dance moves. - RVA Mag

"Introducing ‘Water’, the new funk-laced track from soulful singer-songwriter Fulton Lee."

‘Water’ is the lead track of Fulton Lee’s upcoming debut E.P. ‘Baby Blue’, set to drop sometime in March, and if this is anything to go by, it should be the perfect way to shake off those winter blues and gear up for the summer, one slow foot-tap at a time. With its minimalist approach and laid-back, retro bassline, this is a track made for those sleepy sunny days where everything in life seems to take a step back and slow down.

It’s a delightfully constructed call-back to the classic blue-eyed soul of the 60s and 70s, with Lee’s charming, wispy vocals complimented by the beautifully harmonious and soulful ‘ohhs’ and ‘ahhs’ of the backing vocals. It’s a slow, stripped backed affair, allowing the swaggering vocals to take centre stage while the tight rhythm section keeps things nicely ticking over, overlaid with some nice bluesy guitar work. By the time the track fades, you’ll feel like you’ve been steadily lulled to sleep.

For a debut track, on ‘Water’ Lee sounds astonishingly self-assured, and this only becomes more impressive when you consider that he’s only 20 years old. If this is a sign if things to come, then there’ll certainly be some exciting times ahead. With ‘Water’, Lee has certainly whet our appetites. - Xune Mag

"50s-Style Inspired Fulton Lee Breaking the Monotony"

Following your dreams can be seem far from reality for many, but Nashville native, Fulton Lee knows nothing about that. The 20-year old artist is embracing a vintage aesthetic that is a good contrast to today’s sound.

If you couldn’t tell by how he dresses, Fulton’s musical style is heavily influenced by music not of 2000s era. With influences like Little Richard and “The Godfather of Soul” James Brown, Fulton has taken that dated 50s sound and revamped it for our modern ears. His debut single, “Water”, is a testament of his influences and musical possibility. The song, simply produced, is filled with light bass, guitar riffs and soft drum taps. The soulful sound of Fulton is not masked by the background vocals or melody, making his voice captivating. The song takes us on a journey of his infatuation for a crush. “You’re leading me to drink your water,” Fulton sings, reminding us of that feeling when you start falling hard for a person. You can check out the track on Spotify, Apple Music and Soundcloud.

Fulton’s sound is a refreshing nostalgic, yet updated take on the soul/doo-wop genre. His debut EP Baby Blue is set to be released on March 2nd. It will be interesting to hear what this 50s style crooner going to give us next. - No Gossip LA

Bio

Fulton Lee combines stanky groove with colorful pop melodies to create a sound dubbed "Bubblegum Funk". His influences span from Vulfpeck to Frank Ocean - infectious yet meaningful.

Fulton began his career emulating the sounds and styles of old school soul singers like James Brown and Little Richard. Heavily inspired by the doo-wop sound and dance style of the 50's, much of his music and live performances were a blast from the past. Since then Fulton has integrated his retro sound with modern, clean production styles creating a sound and aesthetic that is refreshingly unique.

In 2020, Fulton was crowned champion of Nashville's famous radio station "Lightning 100's" battle of the bands competition, which earned him a spot on the prestigious Live on The Green music festival in downtown Nashville, which he will play in 2022.
