Bio
In 2009, Fela created an echo beam operated by Lee Perry. It was transmitted in the form of a shooting star from <@> <@> which crashed into the foothills of Kentucky, radiating an impulse through the bluegrass countryside. Thus a unique musical alliance was formed.
FUMA Unviersal Music Alliance consists of a contemporary rhythm section of bass, guitar, drums, mixed with traditional Middle Eastern and African instruments, electric thumb piano, and modern electronic instruments such as mallets and percussion and an array of keyboard synthesis. Collectively the band has studied and collaborated with master musicians from Iran, Turkey, Egypt, Ghana, Surinam, India, Puerto Rico, and have performed and recorded with Parliament Funkadelic co-founder Bernie Worrell, as well as shared the stage with the Roots, Skatalites, Eek a Mouse, and Fishbone. Influences include Fela Kuti, Konono #1, Thomas Mapfumo, Ivo Papasov, Druha Trava, Joe Zawinul, Plastic People of the Universe, Ghanaian Ewe drumming, Keyhan Kalhor, and Sally Nyolo.
