The Fundimensionals, a 6-piece Electronica/Funk/Jam band hailing from Westchester, NY, could possibly become the next new sensation to hit the scene. Although the band formed only two years ago in 2009, they have been rapidly chasing their dream. In a short amount of time, the band has shared the stage with acts such as Bill Kreutzmann, Conspirator, Keller Williams, and Perpetual Groove, among others. Some of you may remember them kicking off the weekend at Catskill Chill Music Festival, or at Weekend Off Festival this past summer. Either way, these guys are without a doubt worth a listen and seem to be going places.
The Fundimensionals fuse diverse styles and genres ranging from rock, jazz, and blues, to electronica and progressive. This blend of genres creates a style reminiscent of Umphreys Mcgee and the Disco Biscuits, forming a unique sound of its own. The combination of smooth spacey keyboard riffs, progressive dual guitar shredding, funky basslines, and some driving “untz” creates an array of beautiful, danceable sounds that will send euphoric sensations through your ears.
Probably the best description of what this band can do was summed up by their stage manager. “The ability to play all styles of music and improvisation, and two guitarists that work this well together is hard to find. This original music can be appreciated by people of all ages,” said Russell Starkey.
In 2011, the Fundimensionals released their debut self-titled album, recorded by Rich Fabrizio at Frequency Recording andmastered by Grammy-winning David Kutch of Mastering Palace NYC. The album is available for free download and streaming on www.fundimensionals.com and iTunes.
The Fundimensionals have a residency the last Friday of every month at Katie Mac’s, in Mt. Kisco, NY. This little venue is lots of fun with great sound and good vibes. It’s $5 at the door and drinks are relatively cheap, (don’t forget to tip your bartenders). Anyone who appreciates good rock, jam or just music in general should check these guys out. Fundimensionals' unique sound arises from their mastery of blending traditional jam band styles, (rock, funk, bluegrass, jazz and latin) with non-traditional elements, (electronica and progressive). Featuring two lead guitars, keyboards, bass, drums and percussion, their innovative songs serve as vehicles for lengthy improvisational jams, which showcase both technical prowess and the ability to layer sounds in complex new ways. Fundimensionals have been tearing up stages since early 2010, so if you don't know already, it's time to see what theyre all about!
Fundimensionals formed in 2009 and have since played on bills with Umphreys McGee, Perpetual Groove, Keller Williams, Conspirator, Bill Kreutzmann, Particle, Kung Fu, Dopapod, Consider The Source, Timbre Coup and many more!
Their self-titled debut album, mastered by Grammy-winning David Kutch (John Legend & the Roots) of Mastering Palace NYC and recorded by Rich Fabrizio at Frequency Recording, is available on iTunes.
