BandRockFunk

Once there were four kids who sat on the side of the road in Atlanta. They had grown weary of the jam music that surrounded them and only desired to rock. Suddenly, a limo rolled up and a man spoke through his window. He said, "All you kids need is some good, sweaty funkin." Thus Funktion was born.

Biography

Funktion began as the brainchild of Tuna Fortuna and Alex Reeder who were feeling suffocated in a jammy/emo world that was seriously lacking in the lower end. Their mutual love for bass attracted them to the bass-heavy genre of Funk. This was mixed with their admiration from legendary bassists such as Flea of the Red Hot Chili Peppers and Mike Watt of the Minutemen and fIREHOSE.

With this image in mind they called up Alastair Steward, childhood friend of David Fortuna who said he would love to play some funk. Alastair comes from an Industrial background in part thanks to his brother Zmar who is the keys/synth player in industrial/electronica band Helltrash. Alastair's playing adds a heavier and more rockin element to the funky bass and vocals of Tuna and Alex.

Finally, Matt Towery was discovered when Alex and Tuna saw him preform at his senior talent show at Pace Academy. Towelz agreed right away and added his rock, solid beats to the mix.

Lyrics

Blind Sight

Written By: Alex Reeder

Chorus:
I can't see anymore, anymore.
I'm so high my feet have left the floor.
I can't see anymore, anymore.
Last I saw, I's walkin' through your door.

Now I know you sleepin' in my meadow.
Land of milk and honey in your head, oh.
Now I know you sleepin' in my meadow.
Land of milk and honey in your head, oh.

Verse I:
Try and catch me, if you can,
Catch a pixie of sand.
I put up a fight, I feel your sight,
Mid-flight I am petrified in your knowing eyes.

Grass Roots and black boots,
Can't you see I been around?
Pretty in pink, but laced with black,
And you the crooked spine down my back.

(chorus)

Verse II:
Boy you know, you got me,
My songbird song sung soulfully.
Doctor, doctor bring me to life.
Love/hate, yin/yang I feel your strife.

Outro:
I can't see anymore.
I'm so high my feet have left the floor.
I can't see anymore.
Last I saw I's walkin' through your door.

I can't sing it anymore.

Under Thunder

Written By: Alex Reeder

Verse I:
Can't you see where I am going when I am sinking slowly?
Hold my hand and don't push me under.
Be the one help me recover.
Shield me from the rain, pain, and the thunder.
Father, dearest Father, dearest Father, dearest Father, dearest Father, dearest Father you're the one who must discover

Chorus:
Now.
Sitting in the circles of the park
Evermore I wait in the dark
Heart of yours, I wonder
Will we always be
Under thunder?

Verse II:
I can see where you are going,
And you are sinking slowly.
Don't let go and just keep on breathing.
Follow me, I'll keep on leading.
Overcome the red pain and the bleeding.
Father, dearest Father, dearest Father, dearest Father, dearest Father let the sun through we are ready to discover

(Chorus 2x)

Lady Cry

Written By: Alex Reeder

Verse I:
The roses he melts with his finger tips
Have found their place in the bed of her hips.
As she falls from her raft on the River Mate
She is lost, she's lost herself in her flooded body.

Verse II:
The puzzle pieces burn in, in the fire
As a sacrifice for their lady crier,
And the tears she cries go to the butterflies
For they have taken, they have taken her beyond the sky.

Chorus:
Lady Cry
Climb your blue sky.
Lady Cry
Show your butterfly wings.

Verse III:
No longer do her feet tred the beaten path,
They now rest in the oils of the rose petal bath.
The chronic chaos of her senses force her to relax
And as an angel spreads its wings, she arches her back.

(Chorus 2x)
