Review:
Castle Point Records later produced an incredible sold-out concert with 5 bands at the famous "Snitch" Rock & Roll Club in NYC. The headliner was CPR artist Cori Yarckin- who just won first place at the Grammy Showcase in Miami and was also featured on the New Yorker's live TV Show in NYC. Also performing were CPR artist Last Perfect Thing (who recently packed the renowned "Stone Pony" rock club). Then honoring our slogan "New Rock From The Point!™"we had the honor to introduce Funky Nunchucks and Wellsville (coincidently, members of these two bands are also Music Technology majors at Stevens and are also members of Castle Point Records). This event was assisted by Prof. Rob Harari (who introduced us to Carlos), and it was organized by the Director of the Music &
Technology Department, David Musial - Castle Point Records

"Punk! (excerpt)"

Up and coming power trio “the Funky Nunchucks” aced their way through both expertly executed covers and some serious originals showing frighteningly-professional chops and an avarice for meaty rock and roll.

Bio

The Funky Nunchucks are Steve Antonelli, Joel Condon, and Pat McQuillan.

Formerly known as the Funknasty Lady Killaz, the Funky Nunchucks formed in October 2006. They played their first show, a battle of the bands, a mere three weeks later, performing a kickass set of covers and originals.

They won.

The Funky Nunchucks have been rehearsing and playing shows ever since. They recorded a two song EP, samples of which are currently posted. (For full versions of the songs and other miscellaneous sounds, visit www.funkynunchucks.com)

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

How would one describe the Nunchuck's music? There are clearly elements of rock, funk, jazz and hip-hop, but the Nunchuck's unique sound encapsulates a much broader range of musical genres than simply the foregoing examples.

More specifically, each member of the band has his own list of personal influences, both musicians and musical groups.

Steve: Chad Smith, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Kris Myers, Umphrey's McGee, Tool, Frank Zappa, Carter Beauford, Dave Weckl, Miles Davis, Blackstar, Brad Wilk, The Roots

Joel: Flea, Jaco Pastorius, John Paul Jones, Les Claypool, Dirk Lance, Leonard "Hub" Hubbard; RHCP, P-Funk & its affiliates

Pato: Jaco Pastorius, Jimi Hendrix, Miles Davis and company, Red Hot Chili Peppers, John Frusciante

It is not a far stretch to say that the Funky Nunchuck's music is, in part, a manifestation of these influences.

The Funky Nunchucks also strongly beleive in the importance of voicing your opinions, and do so through writing, art, and of course music.

Check out www.funkynunchucks.com for more dirt on the band. See what we're all about. Try to make it to a show this summer. The Funky Nunchucks are not a band to miss!
