Future Perfekt

Future Perfekt is a brand new electronic-soul duo based in the Bay Area. Under the musical direction of drummer/producer/songwriter J3tman, the project embarks on a musical journey that embraces many other styles from rock to dubstep, from jazz to drum and bass, all coalesced into one refined sound that stirs the soul and enchants the mind.

Although the project is just making its debut, the members of the group are no newcomers to the scene: J3tman has toured internationally with local hip hop legends Zion I (SXSW '09) and several other groups, and singer Karyn Paige, another bay area veteran, continues to work closely with local jazz heavyweights the Jazz Mafia. In addition to the core members, Future Perfekt brings in some of the Bay Area's finest musicians for live performances, and cross pollinates live instruments with the most cutting edge elements of laptop-based DJ electronic music, delivering an aural solace that is perfectly suited for today's musical landscape.

Members Bio:

J3tman (Mitchell Wilcox):

Mitchell Wilcox is an extraordinary talent. The award-winning percussionist was already being recognized in high school for his original work in the school Jazz Band, and performed with the University of Hawaii jazz band as well as put out a CD with a local rock band before he graduated high school. His talents amplified as a student at Stanford University, where he studied Music Science & Technology while continuing to perform with various groups of all genres throughout the San Francisco music scene. He played drums for hip hop veterans Zion I and began to perform internationally at some of the most prominent venues and festivals, including Splash Festival in Germany ('09) and South by Southwest ('09) along with K. Flay ('10). He has shared the stage with Louie Bellson, Mos Def, The Roots, Dave Matthews Band and many others. His latest project, Future Perfekt, brings Wilcox to the forefront as writer, producer and artist. Working with the gifted vocals of Karyn Paige, Future Perfekt blends Mitchell's many unique musical talents into a completely fulfilling musical experience.

Karyn Paige:
Having worked with producers of Mariah Carey, Toni Braxton and the Pussycat Dolls, Karyn is as professional as they come. From session work as a backup singer to performing as lead vocalist with the Jazz Mafia, her talents have given her the opportunity to share the stage with Bay Area Icon Lyrics Born as well as Musical Legend, Stevie Wonder. When asked who she would compare herself to, Karyn responds with 80’s TV Icons, Denise Huxtable (The Cosby Show) and Punky Brewster. “I like the way they always did what they wanted, even if it wasn’t conventional.” It’s this rebellious and sassy attitude that has helped to make Karyn Paige as unique and original as her musical idols.
