"Queens rapper G5 Elz prepping EP (watch the “Miss You” video)"

Queens rapper G5 Elz is hip hop royalty. His father is Larry Smith who helped define the sound of Queens rap when he co-produced Run-DMC’s first two albums with Russell Simmons, and G5 Elz has been studying his city’s sound for his whole life. He’s prepping a new EP, The Northside Punch, which includes the single “Feelin’ Like,” which was recently remixed by Smoke DZA. We’re premiering the second single, along with its video, “Miss You.” Talking about the song, G5 Elz says “Everybody has at least one person they came across in life that they miss but really shouldn’t,” and the video matches the song’s story. G5 Elz discusses him and his ex-girlfriend’s history with a (very sexed up) therapist, while the video flashes back to shots of G5 Elz and his ex. Over a ’90s-R&B-sounding beat from 183rd, G5 Elz gets pretty sentimental for this one. Watch/listen below. - Brooklyn Vegan

"Check Out HNHH's premiere of G5 Elz's "Feelin' Like.""

With the release of his upcoming project, The Northside Punch, around the corner, G5 Elz is in full preparation mode. The upcoming hip-hop artist will be releasing his album for free this summer and it's an ode to the neighborhood he is from in Queens. Definitely showing love to NYC!

In honor of his upcoming release, G5 Elz just released a video for his track, "Welcome to the Northside," and is back with the visual for his track, "Feelin' Like." "Feelin' Like" is a feel-good track and the visual matches the vibe: a pretty woman on G5's arm as he enjoys the beautiful scenery around him. Perfect track/video for the summertime feels.

Check out the visual for "Feelin' Like" above and make sure to keep up to date with G5 Elz here and grab The Northside Punch when it drops. - HotNewHipHop

Bio

Lawrence Smith Jr., the up-and-coming rapper who is the son of legendary rap music producer Larry Smith, was born in Elmhurst, Queens, New York on March 30, 1994.  Recording as G5 ELZ, Smith lives these days in South-East Jamaica, Queens, the neighborhood known as Northside.  He counts such New York hip-hop heavyweights as Camron, Big L, and Nas among his influences.

The future rapper started writing poetry in elementary school, then began composing actual hip-hop lyrics in late elementary/early middle school.  He became even more serious as a high-schooler, where he began spitting in classrooms and lunchrooms, and on laptops and video via Twitter.  His commitment was sealed when his grandmother, Angie Smith, who had raised him, passed away in 2011, and G5 ELZ realized he was entirely on his own.  It was then that he began writing, recording, and releasing the series of mixtapes that have won him high regard. - Bill Adler
