Biography

Gabriel Newhouse is a native of Longview, Texas and presently resides in Irving, Texas. He began his love of poetry while a junior in high school after his English teacher gave the class a writing assignment. This challenge awakened his gift as a writer. Many of his family and friends know him as Gabe or The Gospel(s) DJ, yet few know him as a talented poet. His anointing and creativity shine through in his poetry writing. After graduating from Longview High School, he attended Kilgore College. There, his poetry was published in the college literary magazine. After completing his two years at KC, he transferred to UT-Arlington majoring in advertising, with a minor in music business.

Gabriel's love for music and poetry transcended into his writing of Poetic Praise, which is a style of poetry much like rap but with a more poetic style. He recently performed on stage during the Holy Hip Hop Convertcation in Dallas, TX, Ebony Black Family Reunion Tour Local Talent in Dallas, several churches in Dallas and Austin, and other local venues such as Rickey Smiley’s talent showcase. He is also a regular performer at the Firehouse in Dallas that is a well-renowned poetry venue. In addition, Gabriel was the featured poet/spoken word at Murphy’s Place in Dallas.

His inspiration awakened while attending church service where he thought it would be interesting to engage poetry with praise and worship music. After studying the book of Psalms, he compared his writing to David as he sang to God, but yet performed the songs in a poetic diameter. Poetic Praise was born from this revelation.

Gabriel was nominated for Poet of the Year by Poetry.com and has been contacted by a company to have his poetry published. Along with writing poetry, he writes songs, plays the piano, is a DJ and music producer, and is learning to play the guitar. In addition to spreading the Gospel through music and song, his main desire is to travel around the world ministering to souls through God’s music. Along with being an artist, Gabriel would like to become a media mogul one day having ownership in several media outlets such as gospel radio, TV, film, and expanding to record production and ownership.

Gabriel praises God for all of his blessings and wants to continue to be used as a vessel for His kingdom. He believes that without God he is nothing, and with God he is equipped to achieve and receive everything needed to fulfill his divine purpose on earth. He would like to thank his mother, father, sister, and his friends for being supportive and motivating him to continue to use his talents to teach others about the Lord. He lives by Habakkuk 2:3 “For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie: though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry.”
