Gabriela

Gabriela

BandR&BSoul

This singer/songwriter's sweet and soulful sound draws comparisons to Sheryl and Norah... similar to a female Seal. Neo-soul, adult alternative rock with a twinge of jazz and a touch of sass. Gabriela’s honest songwriting and captivating delivery is sure to leave a mark at any venue she encounters.

Biography

With a wide array of influences ranging from Stevie Wonder to the Beatles, Miles Davis to Mercedes Sosa, Ben Harper to Annie Lennox, Gabriela is able to deliver just the right amount of soul and passion to captivate her audiences. In 2002, after several years of playing in various bands, it was time the world heard the voice and music of this angelic and sassy songstress, on her own terms... as a solo artist. Plus, it was a chance to really hone her performance and songwriting craft. Her solo acoustic shows are captivating and entrancing; groovin’ and movin’. Her full band shows (supported by a phenom lineup) spark a mix of silky vocals, groovin’ beats, driving hooks and a fun atmosphere that keep the crowds coming back for more.

*Gabriela is a member of ASCAP and owns SASS Music Publishing, LLC.

Sun's Coming Out

Written By: Gabriela

Riding through the city
There's so much in store
California all around me
With a taste of something more

Melting fog it cools my face
People waiting for something out of space

The sun's coming out, coming out
No time like the now
To go out and explore
The sun's coming out, coming out
No time like the now
To shop for what's in store

This peaceful easy feeling
I know it won't let me down
Satisfaction, yeah I feel it
It's surrounding me in this town

Gotta go now
Gotta get me some
Eternal mind shine
Where it came from

The sun's coming out, coming out
No time like the now
To go out and explore
The sun's coming out, coming out
No time like the now
To shop for what's in store
Gotta go now, before it's too late

The sun's coming out, coming out
No time like the now
To go out and explore
The sun's coming out, coming out
No time like the now
To shop for what's in store

Carry On

Written By: Gabriela

Hung up my wings on the door
So I wouldn't feel burdened anymore
I hear the voices that outgrew these walls
You carry on with the heaviest one of all

It's hard to be so humble
It's hard to stay so cool
When the weight of the world
is thrown from fool to fool
You try to catch a glimpse, to carry on

The city lights are shining through the pane
Leaving no trace of this cold November day
I turn on the TV and much to my shagrin
The same fools in question are at it again

It's hard to be so humble
It's hard to stay so cool
When the weight of the world
is thrown from fool to fool
You try to catch a glimpse, to carry on

These pictures and words may cause the ball to drop
A plan of the hour, is that all they've got?

It's hard to be so humble
It's hard to stay so cool
When the weight of the world
is thrown from fool to fool
So try to catch a glimpse,
And you'll see what a difference it can make
So you can carry on

Phone Booth Confessions

Written By: Gabriela Aparicio

How can you be a superhero
with the name your mom screams at you… to put away your cape

How can you have an alter ego
when your friends insist on calling you… by the same name

You’re out of time
This booth is too small
To save the day
Once and for all
Once and for all…

How can you leap the tallest buildings
when you can’t even see… the forest for the trees

When you meet your own reflection
do you even know that it’s you, who is trying to see?

You’re out of time
This booth is too small
To save the day
Once and for all
Once and for all…

Even so, you must search deep within
To find out
What you can do in when you truly believe
Just have strength beyond television, comic books, and x-ray vision

That's when you’ll see….

How you can be a superhero
And satiate your alter ego

Leap the tallest mountains
Face your own worst dreams
Be that superhero
Only you can be
