Bio
Gabriel Bouchard is a singer/songwriter/musician hailing from the Outaouais valley (Ottawa-Gatineau area) although he’s actually from Digby, Nova Scotia. Locally known through his stint with now-defunct punk-rock band The Fully Down, he is now focusing his efforts on his own compositions. His first double-demo, Anecdotes-Coïncidences, saw the light of day in October of 2009 and perfectly reflects the bilingualism that portrays Gabriel’s everyday life.
Influenced by a musical diversity that is the product of being surrounded by music since early childhood, he succeeds in delivering a unique sound, a fresh and catchy acoustic pop that sometimes saunters over to the softer side of his six-string. Whether you catch him playing covers at many of the local drinking establishments, busking in the ByWard Market, playing his own music in Ottawa or Montréal, or even playing music for others, Gab’s onstage energy is something to behold.
Recently, he’s been recognized by a few competitions, festivals and workshops such as Ontario Pop, Gatineau Prend la Scène and Les Rencontres qui Chantent. He is currently working on some new material which will be put on an upcoming EP.
As a musician, Gabriel has always stayed busy within the Ottawa-Gatineau community and outside of it as well. He is clarinettist and bassist for the Governor General’s Foot Guard Band, bassist and percussionist for the Plein Chant Choir and he also collaborates with other artists to compose songs with/for them.
