Gabriel the Marine has been described as one of the few bands to successfully incorporate a violin in their sound. SPIN Magazine has called them “The Decemberists meet Jimmy Eat World.” The band’s songs and name are from poems about a creature named Gabriel, and his conception off the shores of Long Island, experiencing the world and learning about love.

Biography

Gabriel the Marine is a critically acclaimed, violin-infused indie rock/pop quintet from Long Island who have been featured in SPIN magazine and played on KRock radio. Formed in the winter of 2008, the band has toured across the US and supported such bands and artists as Taking Back Sunday, Bayside, and Jack’s Mannequin. Their latest EP, released in 2009, was heralded by Absolutepunk.net as “phenomenal”, and has catapulted them to PureVolume.com’s list of Top 20 Unsigned Bands of 2009.

Lyrics

Maybe, Baby

Written By: Michael Desmond & Dylan Ebrahimian

I was born in a room so deep
Bury me down, bury me in the sound
Where the ocean meets the sea
Well, you'll never find me calling out
For protection there's no doubt in my mind
That fiction never lies

Call me crazy, I may be
I will take anything I need
To get me off

Maybe, baby we can get it right this time
Surely, honey we don't need to be so fine

Take your mind and put away the sins that we have both created
Let it burn
We wine and dine in stormy weather
Take our time and we're together
Let it burn

Satisfaction guaranteed
Pay the price and you will see
The tango is meant
For two

Things I love
Things I hate
Everything seems to fall in place
Fall in place, place...

Maybe, baby we can get it right this time
Surely, honey we don't need to be so fine

Take your mind and put away the sins that we have both created
Let it burn
We wine and dine in stormy weather take our time and we're together
Let it burn

*Solo*

Call me crazy, I may be
I will take anything I need
To get me off, off...

Maybe, baby we can get it right this time
Surely, honey we don't need to be so fine

Take your mind and put away the sins that we have both created
Let it burn
We wine and dine in stormy weather take our time and we're together
Let it burn

"Take your time to think about your past regression, I'm regretting how this turned out. We've been through hell and some hot water, it seems as though we've lost our minds. Lost our minds."
