Nick Gage and Scott Lamps were serendipitously paired as college roommates freshman year at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. During that year they coped with loneliness, and insecurity by boozily recording ramshackle Christmas records. 9 years later, Nick and Scott wrapped up recording on Firelane 2 over two weeks in September '07 . The first proper Gage album. The two work in tandem as Nick brings a bold pop edge, while Scott tempers it with a sophisticated blend of compositional grace, and harmonic heft. It was recorded in a cottage on the serene north shore of Lake Winnebago near Appleton, WI, where Nick grew up. Like a lake, the record is generally steady in it's peace and pace with the occasional downpour of rock bombast.
