That Boy Could Sing (A Tribute To Elvis)

Written By: Gale Campbell

In a small town in Mississippi
Singin gospel on his momma's knee
A young boy loved the music that
He heard in church on Sunday

Moved to Memphis and wandered around
Learned the country and blues that he found
And he blended the styles that he
Heard there from both sides of town

And ohhhhhhh ohhh that boy could sing
And he moved like we'd never seen
And he had his critics all the great ones do
Maybe just jealous they couldn't be like you

When he got a recording contract
Bought his momma a pink cadillac
"That's alright" hit the air and
There was no more looking back

And ohhhh ohhh that boy could sing
And he moved like we'd never seen
A culture revolution the world hadn't seen in a while
You changed everything with your music and southern style

After a Comeback his concerts were fine
Broke his own records most of the time
From Hawaii the world watched
A bright star continue to shine

But the brightest stars can fall out
But there can never be a doubt
That small town boy loved the
Music that his heart poured out

And ohhhh ohhh that boy could sing
And he moved like we'd never seen
A hundred thousand lined up and
Cried saying bye to a friend
They all knew
There won't be another like him

For he was the king
For all the world to see
But even a king
Is only as human as me

Family Portrait

Written By: Gale Campbell

I went home to see mom and dad. It had been a while.
There was somethin on the wall there that made me smile.
The prettiest picture captured a perfect place in time.
The women seated and the men standing in line.

A family portrait of all of us back then.
How I wish we could all get together again.
And it looked like everyone
had come from miles and miles away.
Back then it was just a Sunday.

A few pieces missin now.Grandma was the first
when she flew with a band of angels from this earth.
And brother moved to the city to build a great career.
Now it's so hard for him to get to come back here.
And there's my two uncles-someone said somethin wrong.
Now you'll never see them in the same place for long.

(It was a) A family portrait of all of us back then.
How I wish we could all get together again.
And it looked like everyone
had come from miles and miles away.
Back then it was just a Sunday.

It was such a beautiful day. I was just eleven.
Now I'll only see them all again in heaven.

A family portrait of all of us back then.
How I wish we could all get together again.
And it looked like everyone
had come from miles and miles away.
Back then it was just a Sunday.
