Bio

Gale Cecelia sang her first song at age four, and she hasn’t looked back since. When the 18-year-old New Yorker decided to branch out from her school chorus and a cappella groups, and record covers to popular songs last year, her music career took off running. After lighting up Alicia Keys’s “Girl on Fire,” Gale belted out Bruno Mars’s “Locked Out of Heaven,” crooned Rihanna’s “Stay,” and re-imagined Amy Winehouse’s “You Know I’m No Good”; she posted them to YouTube and SoundCloud, where they received copious love from fans near and far.

Gale was also a member of the Future Music Moguls Class of 2013 at NYU-Tisch’s Clive Davis Institute of Recorded Music. As a Future Mogul, Gale developed an appreciation for the music industry in addition to writing and performing songs.

“In order for an up-and-coming artist to be recognized they must stand out and bring something new or different to the table,” said Riggs Morales, Vice President of A&R at Atlantic Records, when speaking to Gale’s class, and Gale took these words to heart in crafting her EP "Commencement XIV." Much like Danyel Smith (editor, critic, and novelist), whom Gale was also lucky enough to meet, she is fearless, unapologetic, and committed to doing whatever it takes to find success while maintaining her individuality, integrity, and creativity.

In 2013, Gale became a member of the American Society of Composers, Artists, and Performers (ASCAP), as both a songwriter and a publisher. She also released her first original song, “Over,” produced by Chuma Ossé. (“Over” is now available for download on iTunes, Spotify, and sixteen other digital platforms, and its music video can be found on her YouTube page.)

Recently, Gale was thrilled to be trending on the legendary New York hip-hop and R&B station Hot97’s Who’s Next website—twice!
